Dear Carolyn, I am fascinated with all your projects, you are sooo creative! I admire your precision and the way you finish seams from inside of the garment. How do you find time for the sewinhg?

Thank you so much! I love sewing, and am at my sewing machine at every opportunity I have… and I am lucky to only work part-time!

Hi Carolyn, I’ve sent an email. Please fetch it!

Hi dear Carolyn, how are you doing? I can see that you’re doing great in your MMJ project! BTW I finally found the supplier of the custom made woven labels, which you have once asked me about. Are you still interested in it? I’ve requested the order sheet (they seem do their work by surface mails, still, I mean), and I may order some of them before long. Do you want to try some too? I can send you all sorts of info (prices/designs/etc) which you need to know in case you would like to try. Good day! xxxyoshimi

Thank you Yoshimi, I would appreciate that very much! Do you need my postal address? if so I can email it to your email address you gave me… Thank you so much!
Yes, I am doing MMJ, but getting a little tired of trying to take daily photos… but it is fascinating to me to look back on the changing weather and how the river looks in my photos, so I am glad I am doing it!

I love your stuff! It’s VERY inspiring to me. I’m thinking about this Japanese fashion book you took some of the patterns out. Great work! :)

Thankyou for your message! A lot of Japanese pattern books are so different and interesting, I highly recommend them!

hi Carolyn S. I had a look at your studio and loved your projects a lot. They look really great. With your permission, I am planning to get some inspiration from them. Would you let me?:D

Thankyou for this lovely comment! The thought of me inspiring someone is kind of funny to me!! but I am thrilled that you think so! Thankyou so much!

Carolyn, I have to complement you on all your projects, they are all at least stunning. I really love them. I most certainly will take a closer peek at you blog, when I’m not sewing or posting projects.
I have to admit that I envy you for your “backyard” where you can take all those lovely pictures. Yours Toffee

Hi Carolyn, it was nice to meet you on Saturday, I hope you had a good time, that’s our usual mess of new magazines, gossip, patterns and we sometimes even do some sewing :) Anyway, hope you come back again soon, if you like you can join our ning site and keep track of what we’ve been getting up to and I send out an email when I post a new meet. http://burdastyleclubs.ning.com/group/bscperthwaaustralia Mel xx

Thankyou Mel for welcoming me to the meeting, it was nice to meet some others interested in sewing! I was sorry you had to leave early and I hope you’re feeling better now. I wasn’t sure what to expect and didn’t come very well prepared, got half a pattern cut out, next time will bring something less space-consuming! Look forward to seeing your progress on your jeans…

i love that top, is book easy to follow. is it in japanese?
Jun 26, 2010, 05.38 AMby carolyn-s
Hey, welcome back to sunny Perth!
The book is entirely in Japanese (I don’t know any Japanese!), and some parts are a bit tricky to follow. The drawings are very clear and helpful though.

I have a question for you Carolyn. If I keep the innerseam between the thighs vertical, how to I create a skinny leg, by adjusting or slanting the seam along the outside leg? Thanks for you help and advice.
May 24, 2010, 06.39 AMby carolyn-s
Hi Kelepso, thanks for your comment!
Whoo, without drawing a diagram, please bear with my less than adequate descriptive skills… The main drop of the leg should be vertical, not the inner seam, and both the outer and inner leg seam should taper in from thigh down, gradually and to a roughly equal degree. Since you’re drafting your own pattern (and well done you!) it can pay to experiment on calico or an old sheet first. Look forward to your next creation…

Hi Carolyn, thanks you for leaving your comment here! BTW I love this yellow cardi you are wearing in the photo too! The color is so superb and looks fab on you. Great dyeing job!

also, I love your python outfit!! What an awesome design, and you wear it well!!
Mar 19, 2010, 03.48 PMby jessier815
Thank you:) I like the lime green too! It’s a little unexpected, but I think it works. I think I make most of my projects for nostalgia because they each have a story behind them :)

I really like your work. I went on your website and i liked the clothes. Your daughter is so beautiful… Also thought i would tell you that i like that yellow sweater you are wearing in that picture. It looks very nice on you! Look forward to seeing more projects
Mar 15, 2010, 07.24 AMby carolyn-s
Thankyou so much for your lovely comment, I kind of think she’s beautiful too…but I’m biased! I dyed my yellow sweater myself, it used to be oyster white, useful but boring… Thanks!
Mar 15, 2010, 07.47 PMby tallykay
Wow! That is so cool that you dyed it yourself…I should try doing that sometime! Do you have any tips? You chose an awesome color and did a great job.
Mar 17, 2010, 04.43 AMby carolyn-s
Thankyou! I used a packet of dye that i’ve had for at least five years! Dylon Golden Glow… I think they’ve changed all their range and packaging now. What I’ve learnt about dyeing, the most important dyeing time is the first ten seconds!, so if you want even distribution of colour, wet garment thoroughly first then plunge it in in one smooth motion and start swirling like mad… I just followed the instructions provided with the packet. Have fun with it! My sweater was just a secondhand one in the first place so I wasn’t too worried about ruining something expensive.
Mar 17, 2010, 05.34 PMby tallykay
Thank you! I will try it sometime!

Heyyyy you figured out how to add friends! Well done :)
Mar 3, 2010, 04.32 PMby wackyblonde
I wasn’t trying to be snide with my comment. I think that sometimes people misinterpret and overreact to certain words. Of course all women, regardles of size, shape, height and colour are all real. That goes without saying. No hard feelings I hope.
Mar 5, 2010, 09.50 AMby carolyn-s
No worries! I guess I’m just relating to a personal experience when I was a volunteer model for a charity function and a “friend” made numerous remarks at the time about the lack of “real” women modelling, made the comment over and over, it was quite insulting… The only realism in a fashion show of course is that designers are trying to sell clothes here, and comments on the model’s figures are just irrelevant IMHO…!

Hi Carolyn, I’ve been reading your blog for a little while now (it’s awesome, and I’m totally jealous of the weather in Australia right now even if it is so hot) so I’m really excited to see you on BS!

Thankyou so much Molly!

Helloooo Carolyn! Fancy seeing you here. Who is the bastard who did not give you 5 stars for your trench coat??? These ratings are stupid.
Feb 27, 2010, 03.22 PMby carolyn-s
Oh, g’day!! I don’t get these ratings either. I’m new, and don’t know how to do anything yet, just noticed how to “favourite” things, and don’t know how to add friends… learning! Will try to keep up, somehow.
