I purchased the “wardrobe essentials” sewing book and have found an error. I am in the process of making the cowl top from 12-2012,, #118. I was having difficulty joining the shoulder seams, searched all the blogs and couldn’t figure it out. When I compared the magazine pattern to the pattern in the book, I found an entirely different back. I can remedy this but am very concerned about the rest of the patterns. What can I expect to find?

I’m using Burda Pattern 6947. The bolero jacket requires a “twin needle” stitching. My machine does not have this capability. The material is a stretchy mesh. The rest of the seams I used a zig-zag stitch. Any suggestions?

I have purchased and printed the Oversize Open Coat #103C today, but the sewing instructions are not there to print out. The only thing that printed out were the pictures of layout, the symbols and the measurements page. How can I get the sewing instructions for this garment? Marcene

I just checked that pattern and both downloads are there. The pattern and the instructions will be two separate downloads found in your LIBRARY.

All of our available patterns come in downloadable .pdf files. Once you click “Get It” on the pattern page, the pattern is automatically sent to your Purchase History page within your profile. Go to your profile by clicking on your username, and click on Library. You can also access your Library in the right-hand side of the homepage.

I have purchased print at home patterns. I see that all your patterns are to be printed on Letter format paper 8″×11″. Because I’m based in South Africa and we use the British paper size of A4. How may I print the patterns without messing up the sizing?

I bought the boxy jacket pattern(Boxy Jacket 11/2015 #115A) but is it me or are the measurements for the front and back hem band not included? (specified as a and b in the ‘cutting out’ part) It does say right above in the ‘seam and hem allowance to be added’ part that the measurements for part a to d include allowances but i can’t find these measurements anywhere!

These are absolutely by far the worst patterns I’ve ever used! what a mess! You have to try to tape them yourself, get them to fit, cut them only to find out after sewing they are too small! What kind of company leaves off seam allowances on some patterns? I would have NEVER bought these if I knew I had to print them myself and try to piece them together. They also do NOT fit on the fabric size as shown. These are Impossible to use! I want a refund TODAY. Thank you.

Here is a link to our complete FAQ about downloading printing and assembling our patterns:
      http://www.burdastyle.com/faq/patterns#faq_13http://www.burdastyle.com/faq/patterns#faq_13

We don’t include seam allowance on our patterns to make it easier to make fit and style alterations to the pattern, as well as giving the sewer the ability to add the seam allowance that they like to sew with. Some fabrics and certain seam/hem finished require different seam allowance widths so we give the sewer the opportunity to add their own seam allowance. Beginner sewers should add wider allowances, and more advanced usually like to sew with thinner allowance. Each pattern indicates the recommended allowance to add to the pattern.

If you have an specific questions about a particular pattern, you can email those to answers@burdastyle.com and I can forward them along to our pattern department.

These patterns are Draft It Yourself. Most of our .99 patterns only provide instructions. You will need to thoroughly read the instructions to determine if they direct you to draft your own pattern pieces.

Hello Burda! I am going to be a squeaky wheel here, and bring a pattern to your guys’ attention for the third time. The Flared Dress 5/2015 #109 has some seriously messed up instructions. When I asked about it the first time, it was brought to my attention that the “sewing course” the instructions referred to were located in the magazine version of the pattern, which is not available where I live. They “revised” the instructions after that-only now they are for the wrong pattern! The instructions now refer to sleeves and gathering in the skirt, both of which are not accurate in the design of this dress. Meg Healy sent me the German instructions, which are still confusing. She also promised to make a sewing course video for this dress, and I’ve been waiting since July to see that video. Can someone PLEASE adjust the instructions so they are for the RIGHT dress this time? I would really love to finish this dress, so I don’t feel like I wasted my money on this pattern. Thanks.
