The Lord of the Rings dress pattern wasn’t so hard. Give it a try (Simplicity 4940). It’s a basic princess shape dress. The only alteration I’d suggest is to chose a lighterweight fabric than I did or make the sleeves out of chiffon. The sleeves are so heavy they pull the shoulders of the dress nearly off my shoulders. I think Renaissance wouldn’t be too bad except perhaps sleeve slashes. Victorian era SCARES me— that’s a whole lot of support garments. Crazy corsets, hoop skirts, bustles. I’d be mighty impressed by any creation from that era. Let me know if I could help any any historical endeavors. I’ve just started out myself, but would be glad to help!

Hi, thanks for your comment on my Lydia. I find I just get distracted so easily when I sew. I will be half way through one project when I get an idea for something else and end up starting on that before I finish the first one. I currently have 5 things on the go at the moment. Hopefully today will be the day I get some of them finished!

Hi, thanks for the nice comment! Glad you like the Thai top – I did design it myself, but it’s based on another top I bought while over in Thailand. The one it’s based on is more like a t-shirt, so I wanted to dress this one up a bit. I’d like to make more for sale at some point. Generally I am too impatient for patterns, so I usually just whip things up. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. :)
