Hey there! My snow is almost gone! Yippee! Which new pattern did you buy? I just sent for a new “Hot Pattern” blouse pattern, but it’s definitely going to have to get warmer to wear it.

      Hi Ms Magnolia,
The snow is gone from here too but we still have severe frost which is interfering with my gardening plans and has killed off a lot of my plants. We have had very mild winters for a while now so you tend to forget just how bad it can be and try to wing it with plants you know you shouldn’t have outdoors. Bye, bye olive tree :(
I bought the “Lotus Cami and Tunic” from Amy Butler (http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/products/patterns_display.php?id=36). I like the idea of a pattern that you can ring a lot of changes with. I have to do so many alterations to get them to fit I might as well make it worth my while. Which Hot Patterns blouse did you buy? Do you have a fabric for it yet? I love their styling and bought a couple of patterns from them not long after they started up but I still need to make them.
Did you use a pattern for your lovely rose skirt? It is really stunning. Reminds me of the summer LOL

Thank you! I didn’t use a pattern for the garden skirt, just played around with ribbon and fabric! I like my garments very deconstructed. Much to the dismay of my Mother! LOL I got Hot Patterns new Artful Dodger Blouse. http://www.hotpatterns.com/products/hp-1103-vintage-hp-artful-dodger-prudence-blouse
I have sooooooooo much fabric stashed away, I’ll go shop in the stash when I decide to make it. I’m thinking I’ll make it tunic length first and wear it with boots until it warms up. Unless something else catches my fancy first. LOL

Thanks sweetie – it really has been hell!

Just got back into it by starting to pattern a Jessica Rabbit-ish corset. Its quite a bit more complicated than what I’ve tackled head on before so I hope I’m not setting myself up for a world of pain ;)

Thanks for commenting on my Stolen Skirt… I noticed when I checked out your projects that you do corsets!!! Great timing, my cousin’s daughter came to me with a very expensive yellow corset that she had brought, only the boning has come out and she wanted me to repair it! I told her that I thought it was a bit like an underwire bra, so once out hard to keep it in again and suggested we use bias binding or ribbon to conceal/mend all around the top of it (a little like your green/black) – any thoughts here, you appear to be the expert when it comes to this type of garment!

Thanks for dropping me a line. This is a really common problem for tops like this. You didn’t mention if the boning was plastic or steel. I am not a fan of plastic boning as it tends to bend and snap and the sharp edges come through the fabric after a wear or two. Steels are usually tipped so they don’t have this problem. You could try to either dip the ends of the boning into silicone sealer (like the stuff that you use for sealing bathrooms) to round them off or to make little caps from thick fabric to go over them if they are too sharp. You can also buy great caps from Vena Cava Design (www.venacavadesign.com) which is a great site for corsetry components. I would definitely use bias for the edges or a nice grosgrain ribbon as this will bend round the curves really well and can be steamed into shape.
Hope that this is of some use.

Hey! Just seen your amazing corsets, and wondered how you learnt to make them? I’m trying to make my own, but have next to no knowledge and I’m trying to self teach. Your lingerie is amazing!

Wow, every couple of days? Impressive! Funny that our work schedules are exact opposite! I work evenings and create during the day!

Hey, thanks for the nice comment! :) Looked at your website. Very nice. I’m impressed by everyone that has the patience to make a corset! Especially after the first one! LOL
