I don’t know how they calculate views here on BurdaStyle. It’s a shame they don’t add all the views from Projects, Techniques and Pattern Downloads.

So I suppose it’s just Profile views – Anyone else think that’s strange?

The Joining Fee for angelakane.com is going up tomorrow (1st October) to £25. It is still only £5 per year after that for Subscribing Members.

I have a new deal for those of you who are only interested in Patterns or just the Videos. From tomorrow it will be £18 for the first year to access all my Patterns and eBooks. Alternatively for £18 you can access just the In-depth Videos, again I am including the eBooks. This suits experienced sewers who would like to use my patterns or those who want to learn from my videos but have their own patterns.

I think you will agree this is pretty good value – currently 27 Patterns, 4 In-depth Sewing Courses and 2 Sewing eBooks. I am still developing my ideas for this site so content will continue to expand.

Thank you to all my BurdaStyle Friends who have already joined.

My Video Series, Sewing a Classic Lined Sleeveless Dress now features a transcript.

This is a much requested feature and I shall be adding them to my Videos for Members. It’s a great way to glance through the contents of a video and get to specific techniques.

In the UK many sewers have been enjoying The Great British Sewing Bee

I’m hoping this will encourage more people to sew and make their own clothes. It’s great to have sewing on the agenda – don’t you get fed up with all the cooking on TV?

Next week, among other things, the sewers will be attempting a zip fly opening – not something to be done under pressure. Even I get out my instructions to remind me of the order. I bet they wished they had watched my Making Jeans Video

I have updated my Pinafore Pattern here on BurdaStyle but the new versions are not showing up on the Pinafore Project. Also I’m unable to update the originals.

Find the latest versions here in my Studio – Patterns. For more sizes, go to my website.

I am extending the option to buy any pattern and pay-to-view any in-depth video. Just register as a Free Member. This has proved popular and may become permanent.

Bundles are new and are great value. Bundles can be upgraded to Full Membership.

Check out the Roll Collar Coat. The pattern, as with all my patterns, is drafted in sizes 6 to 22. (That’s individually – not multi-size patterns). Included is a detailed instructional PDF and the In-Depth Video to purchase separately.

My sewing site is all about membership. During October I am selling individual patterns and pay to view in-depth videos. Starting at 99p! If you have thought about joining my sewing site, it’s a good time to give it a try

Roll Collar Coat Video – Great for beginners but too long, too detailed – it’s taken up much too much valuable time! 17 episodes – every detail filmed. Catch it while you can, it may be the last of my videos from the very start to the bitter end.

I don’t really regret it. My members now have several examples of start to finish videos. From now on it will be New Skills – short and concise.

Thank you to everyone who follows my progress and likes my contribution towards encouraging easy sewing.

I’m really flattered by the comments that have been posted. Thanks so much. He promised he would write some more about me. Every little helps.

Yes I have been a bit slow with my pictures. My youngest son usually does them for me but he is now so busy (he’s a film maker as well) I have to join the queue!

Thanks so much Dotty. I don’t know if I mention it anywhere but I started my first website selling my cashmere knits in 1995. I was reviewed in the New York Times within 2 weeks of launch. My three boys were young and I couldn’t cope with the business and abandoned it. If I’d been a Super Woman I’d be super rich now. I was telling everyone how big the Internet was going to be – “yeah yeah”!

It’s still in the NY Times archive – called myself Coco Kane (ostentatiously) under an article ‘The Net is not a Snood’ Haha.

It’s much harder to get the press interested these days.

Your comment is great. A few more like that and I’m sure he’ll write some more about me.

John-Paul Flintoff is a well know, highly entertaining, British journalist who loves to get involved in all things green.  He makes his own clothes and has written a book ‘Sew Your Own’ and another ‘How to Change The World’.

He thinks that what I’m doing is brilliant and has very kindly featured me on his website. He is keen to hear from anyone using my patterns and videos.  Please take a look and maybe leave a comment.  That would be so great.

    John-Paul Flintoff: Something practical

John-Paul Flintoff writes for many of our National Newspapers and is often on the radio. He is very entertaining so please check him out.

Thanks for posting to my wall. I guess you received my newsletter.

Yes, the grading is nearly finished so I should be able to publish the Classic Summer Coat very soon.

I’ve been wearing a version of it and it’s so useful.

Hi Angela, I am making your Pinafore at the moment and just wanted to say,“Thankyou” for such a good basic pattern. Your video tutorials were so helpful to me, as I often find written instructions countersuggestive and find myself making mistakes as I can’t visualise what they mean! I plan on making another one (at least) in a dressier fabric and also a skirt. After all that, (and a myriad of other projects) I can’t wait to buy some dark denim and make myself your classic jeans, they look great. Thanks once again, Jenn :)

      Hi Jenny,
Just noticed I had not replied to your really great post to my wall.

I’m glad you like what I’m doing and it’s good to know that it has encouraged you. I have so many plans for good videos but it takes time to do them well. I hope to have a comprehensive library of videos and patterns covering all the basics to get sewers started.

      Thanks again for your support.

Hi, Angela. I signed up for your discussion class, it sounds like it will be a great forum. Would you mind if I extended the invitation to @Angel Peterson? Her online business is FleeceFun.com, you’ve probably seen her tutorials on here. I know she has been in contact with the PowHow team as well, and she would probably benefit from hearing the ideas of your other students.

    Looking forward to it,

    Maureen Wilson

Hello Maureen, Yes I had my first classes yesterday. There were a few teething problems but my ‘students’ all took it in good part and said afterwards how much they enjoyed it. There was no show for the second class, not sure why, may have been technical.

Great to hear you have signed up and please extend the invitation. Let me know when you are set to go with your own classes. We can all help each other I think.

See you in class – I love saying that!

A little while ago I wrote to some of my members about the new PowHow.com site for Live Webcam Classes. The PowHow team asked me to take part in their trial. At that time I wasn’t sure that the system was developed enough to make it useful and I certainly didn’t want to frustrate you all with technology that didn’t work.

The PowHow team have made fantastic progress and powhow.com is close to going public. I am able to offer FREE CLASSES for a limited period in order to iron out the wrinkles!

Please remember that I am trying this out too. It may not suit my style of tutorial. I won’t, for example, be making garments live as I don’t think that would work but discussions and workshops, giving my members the opportunity to share ideas and ask me questions, could be useful I’m sure.

So please join me if you are free. The places are limited but I will add more classes if there is the demand. If all the places are taken, please return later for new dates and times.

The Free Trial Period is just for March so do give it a try. You may like to look at other classes on offer at PowHow.com.
