Thanks for letting me know on the dress. Good luck on it. Hopefully we will get to see it posted. Yep, “I’ve got socks older than you!” is a favorite among the older generations or at least several (more mature, p.c.) choir members to say to the young whipper snapper choir director.

Industrial machines seem to be sparse on the accessories unlike home use machines. My Pfaff 2370cd has a narrow rolled hem foot which I have used many times; it works well on the straight and requires constant attention on bias curves. I have to use the small hole throat plate for straight stitching on very light weight fabrics. Aquamesh is a brand name for a wash away, otherwise you can look for a light weight tear away stabilizer (I am lazy and use paper.) Both types are used for machine embroidery, so if you go to a shop that sells machines that embroider, chances are you will find the stabilizer. Using the stabilizer should prevent the fabric from going past the throat plate or at least it does for me. Good Luck on your project! and your profile pic looks young. I started sewing Barbie doll clothes when I was 7 in 1969, yep, that makes me old.

Hi! Thanks for your comment on my keepitall. No, the plastic pouches are not removable; they’re sewn at the zip and the pouch sort of hangs from there. Now that you mention it, I could’ve used velcro so you could separate them from the rest. I’ll try that next time.

“Hi” to you fellow Seattle girl! I love the pink dress you posted (the matching outfit for the Chihuahua was a nice touch, too). You are a very talented designer! Did you get that beautiful ombre fabric in town? Thanks for the kind words about my blue gloves. They really kept me warm during our December snowstorm :)

Hi, Thanks for your comments. You were asking about what school I went to…I went to George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. I really liked the program they offered because it was completely hands on and focused on drafting and construction. Also they offered lots of electives like eveningwear and lingerie (luckily I was able to take more electives b/c I was exempt from a few classes because I already had a B.A.). If you want to know anything else let me know! Are you planning on working in the fashion industry when you graduate? Oh and about lingerie… taking a class helps (b/c you can see someone else drafting/constructing), but there are a couple of books that I would recommend: For an overall book on bra-making there is “The Bra-Makers Manual” by Beverly Johnson (it is available from the authors online store, where you can also get all the supplies you need – it is www.bramakerssupply.com). For drafting, I would recommend “Pattern Cutting for Lingerie, Beachwear and Leisurewear” by Ann Haggar.

Thanks for your comment on my second-chance top! I’ve uploaded the photo we’re going to use in the magazine if you want to check it out. (The magazine is called Jonesboro Occasions by the way. I’m the graphic designer and illustrator.) My next project is an electric blue dress! Happy Spring! ;)

Hi, you asked about my quilted image. It’s the center of a quilt I made for a fundraiser. Reminds me of how sewing and crafting brings out the kid in me who wants to try everything. . .

Yeah I never fell in love with any fabric stores when I was there, which was december 1 2007-june 2008. Seattle is so cool but the weather was driving me nuts!

I didn’t make my skirt & top for my mum, I made it for myself.
And I’m pretty serious about my decision, I think the first thing coming out of your mouth seeing your daughter in a hand-made outfit never should be so negative. She at least could have mentioned my grown sewing skills or the nice idea ant then tell me that she doesn’t like it. Or maybe say hi, nice to see you and then that she hates my style. It’s realy about the way of saying these things, I think. So it is quiet funny and I ment it to be, but there deffinitly is a true core about my title.
Now I’m sadly unsure about the outfit. My boyfriend loves it and so do the women at work (they want me to sew one for them). So I’d realy like to hear some first or seccond impressions on my work…
Did you mean I should re-do it to please my mum or because it realy looks bad? Please be honest!

Hi AmandaMargaret, Thanks for your comments and advice on my dress – looks like there will be a bit more work before I can wear it! Annoying really, as I’m dying to get on to new projects! Anyway, if I don’t make the adjustments it’ll all be wasted as I won’t be able to wear it! Thanks again! All the best, Debbie

Thanks for your kind comment on my mint lace top. We are just moving into autumn in Australia so I guess I’ll get a little wear out of it before the cold weather but I would rather be moving into spring! I’ll look forward to seeing more of your creations soon.

thanks for your comment, for your question: Britex fabrics is the best and we also have discount fabrics which is great but my favorite place is in Berkley and my other’s is in Oakland. So we have a pretty decent selection, wish there was more! I used to live in Seattle, what’s your favorite place for fabric?

Hey thanks for the lovely comments on my creations. I will be getting a photo of my brown dress next time i wear it, i keep forgetting, and uploading these photos really reminded me that i need to. And your wedding dress really is so beautiful, i love the jagged bottom to the top part, it really makes it unique.
