Thank you very much for your nice comments! Helena loves her dresses. Unfortunately they did not take a photo of the doll in that blue pinafore. I hope I can get one!
Jul 10, 2011, 11.42 AMby almatinka
Ah, that’s the one you said you made in the doll size as well! I am sure it’s adorable!!! :-) And you are most welcome – I really love seeing your projects!

Hi Masha, I have put in a tutorial on “learning”, but I don’t know whether it’s right English. Could you please be so nice and read it and then tell me the mistakes? I wanted to publish a clear instruction and I hope I did not write wrong too much.
Jun 24, 2011, 05.03 PMby almatinka
Hi again, Ilse! I am flattered to receive such a request from you. I did read the tutorial and I found it easy enough to understand. There are some things I’d have written differently, but they do not prevent me from understanding what you said. So if you want, you can just leave the tutorial “as is” or you can change it and I’ll write how I’d have written it to your e-mail. However, I do not guarantee that my version will be without mistakes either! ;-);-);-)

Hey, you have a blog! Congratulations! I found out some minutes ago when I went to your wall. I can read it, there is a translation-tool on google-chrome, although the translation is horrible, but horrible funny. I’ll read it this weekend. Sorry for not writing so long, I had problems with burdastyle again. My account was gone – there was a message that a member called “strickmeise” does not exist! But now they mended it and gave me a new password. Have fun with your new old sewing machine! Hope to see a new almatinka-project soon.

You’re most welcome! It’s fun to read more about projects and especially about my friend herself this way!!! ;-)

Hey! I see you are on my blog. Yay. Send me your blog. Since I can’t read Russian, I can read the pictures and pretend to know what I am reading….Like the kinder kids. lol Kids are so cute and innocent.
Feb 27, 2011, 05.02 PMby almatinka
:-) I am glad I made you go “yay!”! ;-) And I am rather kiddish on my blog too (alas, for now only in words), so I will be happy if you look around there – I am sure my sewing blog won’t be as interesting anyway, since I just cannot write as much as some of the others, not to mention the lack of skill so far. ;-) Anyway, the blog is here: http://maskinystrasti.wordpress.com/ I was rather busy since New Years and did not have as much time to put into it as I hoped, but just as in the case of my sewing, my husband’s being at home will help me find more time. ;-) If at some point you decide you want to know what’s on those “pictures” write me an email and I will be happy to tell you.

Hi Masha, heard about a big blizzard at Your’s, everyone and everything OK? Sewing my red coat comes to an end soon, I hope. Then I’ll make your “Ex-Jeans-Skirt”, I’ve cut an old Jeans, but have to add another piece of fabric. What are your plans?
Feb 6, 2011, 07.35 PMby almatinka
It’s so lovely to hear from you, Ilse!!! :-) We are all fine (and even more than fine, if you ask our dogs, who LOVE running and jumping around in the deep snow in the yard! ;-)). We didn’t get as bad a storm as some other areas, so nothing got broken/damaged thankfully. It’s exciting to hear that you’ll be posting a new project soon!!! I am looking forward to seeing the coat! I am even more excited (rather selfishly, I’m afraid) that you are going to use my instructions for the next project!!! I know I’ll have to do something similar to the skirt soon – the other pair of jeans that got “rubbed through” is still on my dresser and I don’t like that! ;-) However, first I want to finish my faux-fur-trimmed poncho, make a poncho for my sister (there probably won’t be any sewing involved, so I don’t say “sew”, but “make”) and maybe finish that blue skirt-and-top set that I wanted to make, but didn’t get to. I had a lot of things going on that unfortunately didn’t allow any time for sewing at all and I hope to start sewing again soon! ;-)

Awhhh, thank you Masha! I had to use my grandma’s china tea cup for this, I knew the cup would fall in love with the necklace!!
Jan 31, 2011, 01.42 PMby almatinka
It’s certainly a “match-made-in-heaven”!!! :-) You are most welcome!!!

Thank you Masha! You should – it’s so relaxing!
Jan 17, 2011, 05.40 PMby almatinka
Not until you are actually good at it!!! :-) Or at least not for me! But you are welcome!!! And it’s actually in your interests that I don’t learn – more incentive for me to buy your gorgeous things from your store!!! ;-)

Oh Masha you are going to make me blush with all that praise! Thank you for the support! It really means much to me!
Jan 17, 2011, 06.49 PMby almatinka
You are most welcome! And don’t blush – I really wish I were that good at the crafts and that dedicated!!! :-)

Thank you! It feels good and a bit strange to be out of school. Luckily I have something immediately to go into…and I’ll always have something to sew :) I hope your Christmas was wonderful!
Dec 27, 2010, 01.45 PMby almatinka
I know what you mean – I felt the same way after graduation! ;-) Merry Christmas to you, as well, my friend!!! :-) Oh, and you are welcome, of course! ;-)

Thank you Masha! The lace belonged to my grandma and I am so happy I used it this way so I can wear it close to my heart!
Dec 20, 2010, 01.00 PMby almatinka
You are welcome, Maya! It did look vintage, but I didn’t know, of course, that it was also very personal – that makes it even better!!!
Nov 26, 2010, 07.37 AMby sewella
Hey Masha how are you doing! Just read that you haven’t been here for a while; me either. This week all with the tutorials I started catching up on missed creations! Thank you for finding time to comment on mine!
Nov 26, 2010, 01.32 PMby almatinka
You are most welcome, Maya! I am glad you are back as well!!! I now only need to find time to catch up on actual sewing – for the first time since I started sewing I have two so-called “UFO” laying around for such a long time (before there was only one UFO – that being my ex-jeans skirt ;-)). So hopefully I get to finish them soon.

Do you think it’s a pandemic? :-);-);-)
Oct 15, 2010, 04.54 PMby sewella
Thank you Masha! I haven’t done any clothes for me recently (read since June) so this was long expected.
Oct 16, 2010, 03.44 AMby almatinka
You are welcome!!! And, oh, do I understand not sewing for oneself!!! I don’t sew much to begin with, but when I did sew lately, it was mostly mending or making household items. So I am all itching to make something for myself. And as soon as I am done writing responses on here, I’ll go and make myself something. It’ll have to be something simple, as I want to wear it Sunday for our wedding anniversary, so I am thinking a poncho… ;-)
Oct 16, 2010, 07.51 AMby sewella
Oh HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
I do hope you make it!

Thank you, Maya!!! I really appreciate it! Even though I haven’t started it yet – got too carried away with sketching it… ;-)

All of your baby bibs are oh so cute! I think it could make a good item to sell online you know!
Oct 12, 2010, 09.23 AMby almatinka
Thank you so much!!! Alas, it’s not my idea or design, so I don’t think I could do that. Besides, I won’t have time with my full time job and family. But thank you for thinking they are good enough to sell!!! :-)

Your’s comments (not only on my work) always bring smile to my face. Are you always soooo positive? Thank you!
Sep 19, 2010, 03.44 PMby almatinka
You are most welcome! And thank you in return – I am happy if I can make you smile! ;-) In answer to your question – no, I am not. But the “golden rule” that seems to work on this site for most people at least represents me very well – “if you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say anything at all”. When I don’t say anything about a project, though, it doesn’t mean that I don’t like – something I am just neutral about it and sometimes it’s the simple fact that I haven’t seen it yet! ;-)

I love your status. I am disappointed as well. I used to love this site but now I’m only going to visit to see what is being made. My last project posted will be the last.
Aug 14, 2010, 01.42 AMby almatinka
You know, I also was thinking of leaving, but I don’t have anywhere else really – I still haven’t figured out what PatternReview is all about and I probably won’t have time for a blog really (not to mention that I am not sewing nearly enough to keep people interested in it, heh-heh). So I am investigating into maybe organizing a sewing club (probably not a BSC, though) here in my town and will keep posting on here, just because of the people, whose work I love and who became my dear friends. ;-)
Aug 5, 2010, 09.25 PMby sewella
Thank you! It is still the favourite piece of the summer and I am totally in love with the emroidery!
Aug 5, 2010, 09.51 PMby almatinka
You are most welcome, Maya!!! And I do understand that love – the dress looks… I am not sure I know the word… personal, I guess, would be the closest I can come up with. ;-) And yes, working right now on some embroidery, I know it (when it’s hand embroidery, especially) also gives one a special bonding to a garment, that one wouldn’t get from just sewing the piece together. ;-)

I love this site and the wealth of info/help I have found. I came across a site one day looking for machine parts. I thought about you You may already have the answer since I am new to this site…. There is such a thing as an industrial sewing machine. These types sew the leathers and heavy denims that a home machine just could not tackle. The motor is stronger than one is for home. I also saw one as Heavy Duty. I supose if you sew alot this would be the one. It caught my eye because I worked for Sears in small appliances, (mixers, blenders, anything with a motor and plug) I noticed the Kitchen Aid mixer and others come as “heavy duty” The watts in the motor were up to 425. Serious bakers out there! OKay bye..I’m rattling on.

Thank you for the information! I have indeed figured out that the industrial machines are a completely different bunch (thanks, Project Runway! ;-)), but I was still wondering what the “Heavy Duty” would mean precisely. Your idea definitely sounds right! :-)
