Hi Sarah Help! I’m missing the instructions for the skirt & bustle from my burda 7880 History 1888 pattern. Any possibility you could scan & post on my wall please?

Hi again!
Sorry I really can’t at the moment, the pattern is at home (Germany) and I’m away, working in Croatia!
Also as I bought the pattern here in Germany, I fear the instructions would only be in German, French and Dutch…
So very incredibly sorry I can’t help! :(

Hello, I’ve purchased the same pattern Burda 7880 for the Victorian dress, saw your project on the net. -beautiful. I have a question about your fabric. What type of taffeta is it? ie faux, silk, polyester and do you know the weight ie gsm? Is it classed as lightweight/medium, weight? Where did you purchase the fabric please. There are not many fabric retailers where I live in the UK so I have to go on line to find the right fabric. I would really appreciate your advice thank you.

Hi, habe eben dein Burda Kleid gesehen.

Hi Sarah!
I recommend (even though I have not read it myself) ‘Macbeth’ by Dr Fiona Watson (2010). It is a historical analysis of the real 11th century Scottish king and exposes how he was, arguably, one of the best kings of Scots there was.
If you’re interested in Shakespeare, I recommend ‘Shakespeare and the Invention of Human’ by Harold Bloom. He makes a fantastic analysis of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth (and he is one of the top Shakespeareans alive today, as well as a post-structuralist).
AC Bradley’s book on Shakespearean Tragedy is also a must read. It was immense help for my dissertation. For your pattern drafting, I have to recommend ‘Pattern Magic’ by Tomoko Nakamuchi. It is easy to read, super creative and interesting and it is very visual.
Success with your sewing and thank you!
Marian

hey dear,
my dress is finally finished (and now do I stumble upon your “more underwear” and “victorian day dress” ^^; )
here it is! http://lavender-traces.deviantart.com/gallery/28215996#/d37dvse
Your dress is definitely one I want to try, but I leave that for a later date. First… Mother Gothel cosplay ^^;
Greetings Astrid

I just downloaded your chemise and corset pattern, but there doesn’t seem to be any instructions to put each one together. Would you please help me in this, thank you.

Hi!
I also noticed that one can’t download instructions anymore… but you can look at them online!
You can find them on the project page, there’s a tab called “Instructions” which will bring you to this siteYou can just use the link here to get to the instructions. Step 1-6 are the chemise, from 7 onwards it’s all about the corset.

Oooh, I only found your wall post now :) Thanks for the sweet comment too! I really liked the sweet style and the beautiful colour of the Hermia dress, that’s why I favourited it :) I also have the BWOF magazine the pattern is from, so I might try to copy your alterations! Let me know how the movie went by the time it’s finished then ;) Good luck with the pre-production :) Have a nice day!

I really do like the things you make, they are so varied :) For the pirate coat, I actually used a pattern, but it was a real pain in the rear! Especially b/c the seams on the sleeves weren’t supposed to match, the cuffs had 8 steps for each cuff, and the person who wanted the coat got the pattern a size too small!! It was a mess to make, but it turned out pretty well.
I still totally want a pirate coat, so I’ll probably be drafting a pattern, yeah! Thank you very much for your sites; it’s always fascinating to see how other people make things. I think the fabric is what does it for your coat…the design is great, and the fabric is great, and the outcome is fantastic!
