Great thanks! I sent my entry last night and my mum wrote a note on the email, just like you said.
Oct 13, 2009, 08.03 AMby LadySophie
Hey I was wondering how I say that I have my parents conscent in the entry email? I have no idea.
Oct 13, 2009, 12.51 PMby Sew4my3
Place your age and “Parental Consent” after. That should take care of it and then if you win they will send forms for your parent or parents to sign.
Oct 13, 2009, 05.38 AMby LadySophie
Oh it doesnt matter really…..dont go to the trouble.
Oct 12, 2009, 11.26 PMby LadySophie

Great thanks 4 the email address!
Im not sure if they have NCEA in America. It may just be New Zealand. Im pretty sure that America is not as set up for homeschooling as we are. Or it might have been thats its harder to homeschool your kids in America than it is here. Theres probably more people here homeschooled than over there. But anyway so I have head.
Oct 11, 2009, 08.06 AMby LadySophie
Ok thanks for that. I have done all my mondays work today so that I can do my sewing tomorrow, and go shopping. Thats one of the awesome things about being homeschooled, you can do it whenever you want. I know that would really awesome if I won, but there will be such stiff competition Im not going to get my hopes up, because then I would feel really stink, if I didnt win.
My mum actually doesnt teach me that much, only when I was under 10. But now Im older I just do it by myself, and if I need help she usually cant help me because she doesnt know. That is a little bit annoying, becasue my friends have people who can help them. But I just keep perservarying. You can do NCEA / corrospondence, which is what they do in school at the age of 16, at home and you have a teacher who you can call up to ask any questions. Its free for 16 till 18 which is really cool. You get qualifications aswell. But my dad wouldnt let me, because I will be working as his ’’apprentice’’ next year building us a new home, because we are selling ours, so that wouldnt really work. But I would still like to do the fashion course, its sounds perfect for me.
I have an older bro, and 3 older sisters and a younger brother and when my older brother was about to go to highschool, my parents decided to homeschool us, so we all were homeschooled.
Thats dumb the dance wasnt any good, sometimes things arent what we expect and when we dont expect it they can be the best fun ever!
I have made a highwaisted summer skirt that is hanging up in my wardrobe waiting to be modeled and then put on Burda Style, and when I model my A-line Im thinking about doing that one too. So I will probably put that one on soon. I have lots of skirts that I have made, but they arent that great so I havent taken photos of them, but I will see if I feel like it at the time.
I better be going now, this laptop has only 12 minutes remaining.
Tomorrow Im going to be so busy finishing my entry, because the next day I will be modeling it, Im so nervous, I just hope everything turns out. I especially hope its not raining on Tuesday, that would suck. I wet picture wouldnt look very good.
Oh thats right, I was just wondering for when I do submit my entry will I just say in the email that I have my parents conscent or what? Also whats the email address we send it too. Thanks heaps!
Oct 11, 2009, 11.14 AMby Sew4my3
Thanks for the information on the homeschooling, I will have to look in to that.
Here is the information for sending in your entry for the contest: send a photo to submissions@burdastyle.com with the header “A-Plus, A-Line”.
Oct 11, 2009, 11.21 AMby Sew4my3
Sorry I posted the address like a webpage, which it is not. It is an email address: submissions@burdastyle.com
Good luck!
Oct 10, 2009, 11.59 PMby LadySophie
Alden answered my questions quite awhile ago, and I was so pleased I could enter! I will probably be entering my skirt close to the closing day. Is it Wednesday or thursday that it closes??
Good luck on your craft fair items! Thats cool you make clothes for your daughters. I piticuly like to make more clothes for myself, I dont really have anyone else.
I hope Nathans vest turns out well, I have never been to a dance before because I am homeschooled, but I think they would be really fun. I would make my own dress.
Thanks for the freecycle website, I signed up but there is hardly any stuff on it for free, so its unlikly that a mannequin will come along, but I will still keep checking.
I have almost finished my A-line, just have to do some handstitching and then put the hook and eye on.
Anyway the computer is about to shutdown soon, because its not plugged in so I bettter send this now.
Oct 11, 2009, 03.28 AMby Sew4my3
Oh wow are you busy! The Entries submitted must be submitted by October 14th, 2009, Wednesday. So get it in, I would love to hear that you won! That would be so awesome!
Nathan, actually ended up buying a vest for the dance as homework and school takes priority. He still is going to make the vest so he will have it for next time. I think it is just great that you are homeschooled. If I thought that I had enough brains to teach my children at home I sure would have done it. I believe Nathan would have been happier in a home environment. He did go to private school at the church we attended till 9th grade and had a class of 9 people so it was pretty close to home schooling. Do you have siblings that are homeschooled as well? Don’t worry about not going to the dances. Nathan went last night and was totally disappointed and said it was nothing more than a bunch of drama for no reason. You’re not missing out.
Anyway, get that A-line in and tell me when you post it. Really let me know when you post any of your creations as I would love to see them. Talk to you soon and thanks for resending your message.
Oct 10, 2009, 11.45 PMby LadySophie
yea I will write it out again, I was going to before but I didnt want to just in case you got it. I will see if I have time now, maybe, maybe not.

Just wondering if you got my message I replyed to your post to me, that started like this ’’’Hello again LadySophie’’? Because I wrote back and sent it but then it didnt appear on your wall. Im confused. It probably didnt work.

Sorry, I didn’t get it. We still have a few bugs that jump on the website every so often. Could you please send your message again? Talk to you soon.

:( I wanted to answer your answer below, but accidently clicked on the little flash bolt, which I guess means I marked your answer as inapropriate :(
I have no clue how to change it back, I hope that doesn’t do anything for you. Well if it comes up, here is the answer: It was an accident and I wanted to click on reply instead.

Don’t worry I have done it on many ocassions my self.

Well what I wanted to say was, that I would love to come by the craft shows and visit you. Maybe you could let me know when and where exactly you are, once you know?
Oct 6, 2009, 02.40 AMby maria-gehrke
Which craft fair are you making things for? And, when is it?
Oct 6, 2009, 03.50 AMby Sew4my3
Actually Sue and I are doing a couple together. One is in West Allis on November 7th and 8th and another is in December on the 12th at Sue’s grandsons school of languages or something like that. It will be my first time to sell at a craft fair, so I guess I will see how it goes. What do you think?

Cool, I’ll check it out.
Oct 2, 2009, 05.23 AMby LadySophie
sure I will do that. Well I have been waiting so long for a competition like this to come up anywhere and when it did I cant not let the opportunity to pass.
I have almost finished the singlet/top to go with the skirt tonight, and Im hoping sometime soon I can go buy the fabric to go with it.
I have printed out the pattern for the skirt and that took so long aswell as joining it all together, but I didnt mind.
Hey just a question how much can we change the skirt, do we still have to keep it A-line? and can I make the skirt a bubble skirt, but still sortof the same?
Are you making the skirt? I would love to see yours if you did.
I cant wait to see mine either, Im just hoping it all pulls together. Its really hard doing all this designing with out a dressmakers mannequin. But Im coping.
Oct 6, 2009, 01.46 AMby Sew4my3
Hello again LadySophie.,
I hope Alden has answered your questions by now. Let me know when you get your skirt posted. I don’t think I will be making the skirt any time soon. I am currently working on items for a craft fair and hope to do well at this one. I would love to make a skirt for myself but mostly sew for my 21 year old twin daughters. However I am in the process of teaching my 16 year old son, NathanL on burdastyle, to sew. He wanted to make a vest to match his girlfriends dress for the dance this friday, but realized he didn’t have time. Anyway, I am babbling.
Also, one thing you might try doing is joining your local freecycle group by going to freecycle.com and posting a “Wanted: dress form mannequin” and someone may have one you can have for free. I just received one that way after several failed attempts, so don’t give up if you don’t get one right away. Give it a try!
Oct 2, 2009, 02.56 AMby LadySophie
Ok thanks I will definatly keep that in mind. Yea I email Alden and she said she is waiting to hear back.
Oct 2, 2009, 03.10 AMby Sew4my3
Awesome! Please post what information she tells you in the comment area below the contest blog. You’re a real go getter and more young people should take on your personality. I can’t wait to see your creations!

I think that my ISP Grapevine has a conflict with the BurdaStyle script or visa versa, though this is just a guess. I have contacted Grapevine and I am waiting a response, just as I am from BurdaStyle. I can only hope it gets sorted soon as it is now 2 weeks with no Pics and limited functionality, all very frustrating. Never mind I suppose less time looking at BS should mean more time sewing! keep having sewing fun. Judeb :)

Where can I find this email address?
Oct 1, 2009, 07.37 PMby Sew4my3
Well, I work for Burdastyle and use a different email than you would, but you can contact the offices by going to http://www.burdastyle.com/contact/new .

Hello again,
Try clicking on your wall “my wall”.
Oct 1, 2009, 08.26 AMby LadySophie
but I dont get it…..its say 18 years or older unless stated or posted??? Why would they make an age restriction? That sucks!
Oct 1, 2009, 06.43 PMby Sew4my3
Just in case, I have an email in to the office and should be able to give you a for sure answer soon.
You could still post your version, as we would love to see what you come up with.Oct 1, 2009, 03.54 AMby Judeb
Hi Sew4my3, looks like the old site is being left till 31st October. I am currently unable to do anything other that people’s walls or new discussion topics on the new site (hence this as opposed to a reply about the old sit) and still have no pictures so I am using the old site for my inspiration and references etc. so check it regularly. Hope you can let the rest of the BS community know this. Cheers Jude B :)

Thank you. I always seem to be the last to know. Haha
Now, what is going on with your ability to function on the new site?

Thankyou for the info that they know of my problem, I now don’t seem to be able to reply to peoples postings so I hope this works. Thanks again Jude B

What should we do for the sew along for this week, since it was models choice?
Sep 12, 2009, 04.40 AMby Sew4my3
I would think that we can make it a “free choice” outfit for ourselves or someone you choose. So set your imagination free!

Thanks a lot for your kind words! It’s nice to get feedback :)

Thanks for checking out my Laura dress :) Your comment is so flattering, I do feel really good in that dress. It’s funny, I never wore a dress to work until I sewed my own, it’s amazing what a little home-made can do for your confidence huh?! :)
Aug 3, 2009, 07.44 AMby ralarkins
Thanks for the comment on my wall! And I will try to keep on sewing with a smile as soon as I can wrestle my Pfaff from my daughter who has absconded with it into the inner depths called her room and only the intrepid go in there and attempt a search for the lost and missing items. :)

Good Luck with the questionnaire. I hope that your efforts will help. Unfortunately that are some members (myself included) who feel that BS/BF will do whatever the original plan with little or no regard to member feedback. This has created a trust issue. The ‘scorn’ issue happens from both members and the BS Team. There seems to be little resolution when issues are discussed in the forum as each side tries to knock down the other’s argument instead of actually listening and working towards a common goal and that itself is the root problem. I truly hope you will meet with success with your endeavor as you seemed be the only one who does listen.

Hi there, glad you liked Ireland. It really is beautiful in the South around Kerry especially. We do a lot of touring around Ireland ourselves in our camper. I will be going to Boston in January to see my son, he married a Bostonian. I will be making a trip to Joann’s I think.
