A second thought- for sign in cards I made my kids names laminated nice and large with velcro and when we sit in morning circle the kids have to find thier name and stick it on the glass door. A window would work too. They love this game and it helps them learn the letters! Just a thought- might save you some time and energy!

Hi Gerry! So good to hear you finally got your overlocker, Santa was good to you I guess :) Aren’t they just great?! I feel like it adds that whole next level of quality to my work. Good to hear you got a Bernina too, I’m still really happy with mine and I really have given it a work out in the short time I’ve had it. I still have a few features to discover but I agree with you about the gathering. I made the Stella Jacket a little while a go and you have to gather and sort of curve the front flap parts, 3 each side. I was half way through the first piece basting away on my sewing machine when I realised, what am I doing?! Haha, and then I finished the rest on the overlocker using the differential feed to gather & curve it, it worked perfectly! Have fun learning more ;)

Hi Gerry, I contacted you a little while ago about the Elna 344 overlocker. I just thought I’d give you an update :) I ended up going with a Bernina model as they just look a bit nicer and I was really impressed with the rep who sold it to me. I had a quick test drive of an Elna at the craft show last weekend but overall I just felt the Bernina seemed better quality and better value for money. So when your time comes to get one I highly recommend checking out the Bernina line up too :) Feel free to contact me again if you want any advice, I should be an expert by then, haha, happy sewing xx Mel

Hi Jellybean, I was searching for info on the Elna 344 Overlocker and came across your post from October last year. I was just wondering if you ended up getting it and how it’s going? I want an overlocker for my birthday in June. I am looking at just the basic models because I don’t think I need anything more fancy than that and love my Elna sewing machine so much I’d love another Elna product. Our Elna shop here in Perth has all 4 of their overlocker models set up to play with and I will go and try them all out before I decide but any advice from you about the 344? Thanks :)

Glad I could help. I love your petticoats! You inspired me recently that it would be totally worth it to make those for some vintage dresses that i adore. Too much fun!

Hi. Thank you for nice comment on my Shari dress. I also have the problems with the sizing by downloaded patterns from Burda Style. Sometime I have to cut a size smaller, sometime my own size. Looking forward to see your Shari. I am glad I inspired you to make one.

Thank you for your comment! She’s very, very pleased that she got to keep the dress- even if it is now a skirt! I love your photo- is it in Australia? We got to travel in Queensland in December- what a wonderful place! One of the only places I have travelled to that I feel like I could live in. It’s stunning and everyone was so kind. You’re so blessed to live there.
