Thanks for the info on the Collette patterns. I’m going to America in Feb so I might have a look while I am over there or get them sent to my Aunt who lives there!

Hi! Thanks for the comment, the fabric is a really stretchy poly-jersey type thing from ebay, the seller is ‘fabricsaurus’ and has a few different prints. i have same prob, no interesting or modern prints around here unless i spot it on ebay!

Thanks! It’s a self-draft, super simple. It’s the fabric that makes it awesome. :)

I don’t think the Regency stays were too hard. This was the first project I completed with a sewing machine. There are only four channels of boning- so compared with other period corsets the boning is really easy. I used plastic cable ties for this boning and it works really well. I think the hardest part for me was deciding on the cup size and lengthening the straps (I have a very long torso and had never altered any pattern before). I definitely made a muslin mock up or two before even cutting into the regular fabric. After sewing all the layers there’s a bunch of tedious handmade eyelets, which aren’t that hard but are time consuming. I also struggled with the handmade bias binding: if I were to do it again I’d buy a bias tape maker and use real linen as the rayon/poly stuff is very floppy. But you could always use bought bias tape and save that headache. The pattern can be purchased from both Sense & Sensibilities website and Simplicity catalogue. Take your time and I know you’ll do great! Can’t wait to see what you come up with :D
