I saw your comment about sewing on spandex.
There are only two things I can really recommend that worked for me; one is to make sure you have blunt-tipped needles and the other is to try sewing through both the fabric and a piece of paper. I’ve been working with this stretch netting fabric for the last month, and though this way is kind of slow going (because after doing a set of seams, you have to go through the trouble of pulling the paper out of them), at least the fabric won’t bunch up and get caught in your thread uptakes.
