I want to take a draping class so bad! That’s so cool that you just finished one! I can’t wait to see your new skills put into action!
Oct 13, 2011, 03.32 PMby ichigogirl
Aw, I love the draping-course, it’s like the highlight of my week! So far we’ve only draped symmetrical, basic things like a blouse and a jacket, but it’s so much fun…! I hope you find one to attend!

Oh, please share if you’ve got Berlin tips for a seamstress! I’ll be going to Berlin in a week…
Sep 21, 2011, 12.52 PMby ichigogirl
I’m afraid I had time to look at parks only (work study trip), but Katarina here has some great ones: http://katarinasellsseashells.blogspot.com/p/map-of-thirft-stores-and-fabric-shops.html
She’s from Berlin.
Oh, and if you want to look at expensive brand name clothes there’s a great shop at Gendarmeri Square, The corner. I looooved it. Including the perfume-corner… but I spent most of the time examining Lanvin’s, Mc Queens and Balenciaga’s…: www.thecornerberlin.de
Have a great trip!
And ooh, one hint: all shops are closed on sundays, so do the museums on the sunday ;-)

I really love all of your stuff! Keep on sewing! :)
Sep 20, 2011, 10.31 AMby ichigogirl
Thank you so much! I’m in a bit of a sewing-halt at the moment, tomorrow I will begin an evening draping class though, that should get me started :-). Can’t wait!
Sep 20, 2011, 10.40 AMby blueskysunhigh
Oh… I know, how you feel. I’m in a similar situation. I have moved recently and my sewing-place isn’t yet established. Hope to get it done, soon. That’s why I post all of my old stuff. ;)

Hi, I’m hoping to have a go at making your shrug soon – do you think I could get away with making it in lace with one-way stretch?
Sep 20, 2011, 10.32 AMby ichigogirl
Hmmm… I THINK you could, if it’s not completely unflexible in the other direction, but then lace should have some flexibility to it. The tricky bit I guess would be the sleeve-openings, don’t make them too tight. And make sure to put the stretch in the right direction!
Good luck!
Sep 20, 2011, 10.01 PMby JulietSews
Thanks! I decided that the lace I had in my stash probably wouldn’t suit the project, but am on the hunt for something more suitable. In the meantime, thank you for the pattern, as an impatient novice this pattern is a dream! I would have sewn hundreds all weekend given half the chance!

Hi ichigogirl I was looking at your Afternoon tea top and I absolutly love it!!!! After printing the pattern I reallized there are no pattern pieces just the instructions!!!! How do you get the pieces???? Thanks!!!!!!
Aug 14, 2011, 10.21 AMby ichigogirl
You have to find the button that says “get pattern” (or something like that) and not the one that says “get all instructions”.
If you did get the pattern, I’ve included the instructions in the pattern-pdf, so maybe you didn’t print all the pages? Take a look at the pdf, they should be there, if not something might have failed durng your download, try again!

http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/a-rose-is-a-rose here it is…. you need to report them to burdastyle after you read this
Aug 14, 2011, 10.25 AMby ichigogirl
Hi! Thanks so much for letting me know! I reported it aaages ago (and it wasn’t stolen, it was transferred to her project when the old webiste was transferred to the new one, also aaages ago), and was told it was to be fixed. Nothing happened, so I uploaded it again (since it had disappeared from my account), reported the “copy” of the pattern again, was again promised it would be removed and trusted the answer.
So I was quite surprised to find out it wasn’t!
I’ve reported it again now, David has replied and this time I do trust they will fix it. FIngers crossed!

Hi there – thanks for your comment on my jacket! I remembered you asked about the Julian Roberts book – there is a pdf on his website that has quite a few images of his method and the address where to get the book (or brochure I think). If you’re interested: www.centreforpatterndesign.com and www.julianand.com

Wow, thank you for the showstudio urls! Those patterns are quite intimidating but I’m going to muster up the courage (and the fabric…) to create one! Thanks again! and yes…all this inspiration needs to pack its own bag of time to bring with it! :)

Hi! Thanks for your comment ony my summer crossing skirt. And yes, I do live in the land of the penguins, although there aren’t that many koalas left!

Hello Karin! Thanks for your kind comments on my recent posts! By the way, I got the Drape Drape volume 2 recently, I have to admit I prefer the first book. The same thing for Pattern Magic, the second is not as brilliant. But those publications are nonetheless amazingly inspirational! Keep well!x

Hey Ms CS, I googled Drape Drape and couldnt find anything except for stuff on curtains… Can you give me more info on this book please?
Oct 6, 2010, 11.24 AMby anajan
Hey Karin, thanks for commenting my jacket! Hehe, I was worried about the instructions – I wasn’t satisfied with the photos, and I was unsure whether I explained all the steps well. Now I’m relieved they’re your inspiration :).

Ichigogirl,
Wanted to personally Thank you so much for doing this, my niece will so appreciate your kindness as do I. She, my niece, is learning to sew while recovering from a bone marrow transplant, is not old enough (12 going on 40) to join Burdastyle, I understood the directions just from looking at them but she insisted on doing this herself.
Big Hugs, Patti

Aha, what a brave girl! I do hope her recovery is smooth and that she’s well soon. How nice that she wants to learn how to sew, and that she has someone to ask for help!
I have two nieces, I love them to pieces (my heart fills up with love from just looking at pictures of them), it must be very hard for you to have seen your niece go through a bone marrow transplant (serious stuff). I’ll pray for her to get well.
Take care, you both!
