Hello! good to hear from you! I am fine…ah children…they grow fast. Yes, I would suggest you buy volume number 1, I find the second instalement a bit disappointing in comparison with the first.Anyway both drape drape and pattern magic are great sources of inspirations! Keep well!XXX

Hey there Ive just sent you a little email :-) I dont suppose you could point me in the direction of instructions to fix the leggings could you? I have a feeling i may be living in leggings this winter so would save a fortune to make some that fit!
Sep 23, 2010, 06.56 PMby bola
Yeah of course! the advice that was given to me was to reduce the front waist height by the amount that it was bagging at the crotch. Once you’ve done this you’ll need to re-shape the waist so it slopes down nicely at the side seam. The seamstress who gave me advice mentioned some other points too, see here: http://www.thesewingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=198876#post198876
Although I didn’t follow them exactly because I just remembered that I had made the leggings in Large so that also probably caused some of the bagging too. Hope the thead helps!

Helloo :-) I cant seem to find the Anita pattern but I do have the newish Slim Fit Trouser pattern if you’s like to try that? I understand what you mean about the leggings, ive made a few pairs recently but they are really annoying to wear because of the weird crotch bit feeling a bit ‘penguin’. I have some instructions for drafting leggings from a new book, I could try and copy them down at some point if you still don’t have any luck with the patterns. Just PM me your email address if you’d like the trouser pattern sending.
Sep 21, 2010, 11.15 PMby bola
Hey emlj, thanks for your reply! and for your offer of the pattern instructions. I managed to get some help off of the sewing forum and then made alterations to the carol pattern. I made up the leggings today and they are perfect!! I don’t know why burdastyle don’t make those alterations to the crotch? It was soo ugly when I wore the first pair I made- it was really baggy and the waist was kinda hanging. Is there a new slim fit trouser pattern?? I didn’t know. If you paid for it then don’t worry about sending it on to me- it’s unfair if I ask for a pattern you’ve paid for but thanks for the offer (if you got it free then do send it on to bolacooper@aol.com:))
Thanks again!

Bola, lucky you to have found lambswool fabric….think you’re hat might look good from upcycled sweaters though…you could have all sorts of fun with the patterns you’d find….anyway just an idea :)
Jan 18, 2010, 10.16 PMby bola
Cool, what a good idea! and upcycling is better I guess as you are reusing old clothing…. I’ll have a think.bxx

you could probably help me more! How is the course you are doing? have you just started? what kind of things do they teach you? it would be interesting to know! anyway if I can help you in any way, let me know!

erm well at the moment we arent allowed to do fashion because it is too complex for a gcse project so i am making a playmat i will post the finished product when finished. I will be starting fashion in september. We have been taught how to do basic sewing and other little teqniques. We do our designs and explain how we want it to look the tacher manipulates her knowledge into teaching us what to do. Its quite easy so im enjoying it. I like to try out other projects by myself though

Hello! Yes there were instructions but i they are super easy to make, just sew up each inside leg, turn one inside out and put in the other and do the crotch seam, then put elastic in the waist. Mine are slightly shorter as i ran out of material but actually the pattern was only about an inch longer depending on your height you might want to add a few extra inches :-) Happy leggins making!

I really love your Bohoho christmas skirt…I have been looking for a pattern exactly like this one. I can’t find the actual pattern and was wondering if you know how I could find it or something similar. Thanks so much!
Oct 19, 2009, 06.46 PMby bola
Hey ahersh I think that pattern was an old burdastyle pattern I bought about eight years ago. I’m not sure if you can find something like it but what I would say actually is have a look at burdastyle’s circle skirt pattern and see if you could adapt it??? I hope that helps!

Hey, thanks so much for the comment on my jacket! I’ve been a fan of your work here on BurdaStyle for awhile, so I really appreciate it. :)

Hey Bola, yesterday you wrote an answer on my wall about your navy esther, but it doesn’t appear there, very strange. so unfortunately I can’t look at it, I only see the beginning of the sentence. If it doesn’t bother you, perhaps you could post it again as an answer on your wall. I really would like to read it :) … So bad, first message and it doesn’t appear on my wall :(
Sep 24, 2009, 12.38 PMby bola
Hey Carinesse I think I just said that i made the cardi a size smaller than the smallest size on the pattern so it fit better.

Congratulations on winning! What was the competition btw :-)?
Sep 12, 2009, 09.57 PMby bola
Thanks! Oh it was set up by this vintage store close to where work where you had to refashion some old or unwanted clothes into something completely different. I wanted to use this African clothing my mum had gave( and which I would never wear!) and make it into something I would wear!
Hope you are well?? hows things been?

hello! i hope the baby is coming along okay. i saw your work on the cover of the Mixtape zine. i was so surprised that it was your work then i realised that all the crafty sew-y people know each other in some way or another like 6-degrees of separation!. anyway… good work!
Aug 14, 2009, 09.39 AMby ichigogirl
Oh, wow, that’s soon… how exciting! Good luck with it all! How much fun to have a kid to make clothes for too, I’d love to sew for my niece, but she lives in Norway so it’s a bit difficult to try them on… I’m fine thanks, went to France for 1,5weeks during my summer vacation: an injection of energy! I was amazed by the strength of the sun in Provence (went there last summer too but had forgotten); I stayed in the shade when I could and loved it… Oh! A friend of mine is moving to London, so I’ll get to visit the UK too more soon, joy! I’ll ask for tips on the best fabric-stores then ;-). Take care! /Karin
