    There is a great tutorial for oven mitts using heat-resistant fabric here: http://www.savvyseams.com/apt/mitts.php I have seen heat-resistant fabric at my local sewing store and I think this would prolong the life of the mitts and keep the user from being burnt. Oven mitts would be a great home-made holiday gift!

    This project was a cinch to make, which is great for a beginner like me. I was even able to replicate the ruffle trim using the pattern’s example photograph. I love the way my new mitts look. I should have researched heat-resistant fabric first, though; I don’t know how functional my first practice set will actually be.
