Here is my version, in plaid wool:

I changed quite a bit about these pants, including adding elastic at the back waist, drafting my own front pockets, and using my own methods for the welt pocket.
However, I did use the basic pant shape and I docked the pattern a star as A. the welt directions are so poor they should not include directions and refer you to a tutorial – and B. I also think they are drafted on the small size. Yes, they are a slim cut, but they are also small. If you are using stretch fabrics you should be fine. But to be safe, measure carefully and/or compare to a comfortable ease for your little one.
However I am pleased with the result, and I’m grateful to Burdastyle for including “tween” sizing options AND not putting proprietary restrictions on the file – my husband is able to “paste” the 8.5 by 11 sheets in Photoshop and print me out a regular pattern. I love this, and so long as other downloadable sites like sewingpatterns.com keep preventing this, I will be returning to Burdastyle!
