I made this skirt with a friend. The directions don’t say to, but we turned our Petersham ribbon to the INSIDE and tacked it at the darts and seam allowances. It gave her a waistband-less skirt. It looks really nice.
However, we didn’t realize that this pattern ALSO includes facing pieces that we could have used to make a facing that would give us a waistband-less look.
(Personally, I’m not a fan of Petersham as a waistband—you can’t always be sure you’ll find one that coordinates with your skirt fabric. And it’s a MUCH more casual look that our fabric called for.)
If you decide you’d like to line this skirt, I suggest interlining it instead (basting lining pieces to fabric pieces after sewing darts but before side seams, etc.).
