I'm an astronomer working at the University of Hawaii. I also love playing ultimate frisbee, gardening, and of course, sewing. Part of what drew me to the burdastyle website is that I made a New Year's resolution for 2007 not to buy anything new (no shoes, clothes etc). I just got fed up with the consumerism that dominates here in the U.S. So, I find my fabric and as many notions as possible at garage sales or recycle fabric from thrift center clothes. I'm amazed at how much money I've saved, which is good since I'm getting married in April 2008 and can use every penny!
