I love sewing. I started learning when I was probably only 8-- my mom would make a lot of my clothes to save money, and I liked to help. I started out trying to make my own things like a little pillow which was, I believe, my first project. I still have it packed away somewhere, I think. Anyway, I haven't done much for a while, and don't even have my own real machine-- just my sister-in-law's "Brother" machine (which I'll hopefully get my own of soon, b/c I love it), or the late 1960s Singer I got for $20 at a garage sale. It's alright, but would need some conditioning in order to become my main machine, and I'm a creature of convenience, so I'll likely go for the computerized. I've started a tradition of making halloween costumes for my son (now 2) every year, and am including some for my husband and myself this year. But it's given me the bug, and now I'm really getting into it for real.
