ABOUT DROBERTA
Hi,
My name is Roberta Elena Dragan and I am 31 years old.
A few years ago, back in Romania, while I was studying Computer Science, being a Graphic Designer, Photographer or Fashion Designer was not even a dream.
After coming in USA I had the chance to find myself and follow my true call.
Seven years ago I came in USA together with my husband who works for IBM as a software engineer. I just moved from South Florida to Lehigh Valley to be close to New York.
In Romania I’ve got a bachelor degree in Computer Science at University of Craiova and last year I graduated from Graphic Design Technology in Fort Lauderdale (Here is my portfolio: http://droberta.com ). As a graphic designer I like illustrations and also photography.
Currently I am working on a new portfolio website: http://rodesignstudio.com
You can see more pictures at my usefilm photographer portfolio:

For the future I have many ideas.
I want to focus on photography and work as a professional photographer and to have my own studio. Secondary I will consider graphic design projects. Another future project is a series of contemporary art paintings. I like also to do make-up (I learn a lot from my experience as a model), interior design, jewelry design,...
For a long time I dream of creating my own Fashion line. So, my final future project is to have a fashion show.
2 years ago, as a Graphic Designer member of AIGA, I received an invitation to participate in a Paper Fashion Show. This way I could show my talent to combine Graphic Design and Fashion Design. My theme design was Turkish culture, customs. I had to make the dress from paper and to be wearable by a model on the stage. The assigned material was white Porcelain paper, in various weights. To put it together I used glue, not needle and thread. For this project I was designer, make-up artist, coreographer and model. I enjoyed this project. It was something different and unique. Who knows, maybe in the future, the disposable paper dress will be as common as the disposable paper plates… But this is so far the first dress I designed, made and wear.
When I was little I did some dresses for my dolls, later on even some skirts, tops, pants and a dress for me, but I couldn’t finish them and I needed help from my grandmother to sew them.
I would like to learn to sew, to do patterns after my drawings. Currently my fashion design creations are only computer illustrations.
Maybe is better to take some classes to a fashion school (I am still waiting for my work permit, the green card processing is taking more than 4 years), I will go back to school
I am looking for a Fashion Design art Institute in north east.
A friend of mine, Mirela, recommends me http://burdastyle.com and I like it.
Bring beauty to the World through Art!
