I've been sewing for as long as I can remember. My mom has had the same Singer sewing machine since the 60's. She likes to brag that it's in the Smithsonian. When I was in 6th grade I won the "Clothing Award" (and the Math award too!) because apparently I made really good jams. When I was in college I did costume design for our theater group.
These days my sewing consists of making extremely elaborate halloween costumes (it's just expected of me) and making my own version of designer clothing for about 1% of the cost of the original.
My sewing machine has been living 2000 miles away from me for 6 months. We are both sad.
