BETTY2744's WALL (6)
Hi, is betty2744, I just leave a message for nehmah I was trying to post a message on your wall, but the page didn't open. Sorry for my delay, but I was checking only to see if I have a new message...it took a while to imagine that something could be wrong :) I was thinking also for the email solution, I will try to send you an email through this site, hope to receive it...soon. Thank you very much for all the information. The only thing that I would like you to know is that I don't want to put you in a big "trouble", taking a lot of your time. So, anything is ok with me, regarding this issue, but please don’t make a very big effort. I didn't try to download from www.wildginger, although I think I have visit the site once. I will try today and tell you about. Did you ever tried to use software for patternmaking? For a while, I have this idea in my mind, that could be useful, but still not convinced that could offer a quite big and "diverse" range. I found like 3 kinds and I think that all depends on the library that the program has for the patterns. Hope to hear soon from you. Untill then, have a great weekend Betty
Hi, Betty, Thank you so much for your kind words. I am happy to be of help whenever I can. There seems to be something very wrong with the message system on this site. As soon as the bug has been removed, I'll send you my e-mail address. I always check to be certain that this will not cause the other person trouble. We don't know what conditions others face in their lives. As to help, I found a website at Cornell University (I think it is in New York State) that has a fair-sized archive resource about all areas of what is referred to as Home Economics. It's much more than sewing. They are the ones with the Butterick publications from the 1920's. Here is their web-address: (http://hearth.library.cornell.edu/h/hearth). Use "Browse"; click on any of the 10-year collections, ex. 1920-1939; go down the lists by year, the articles are alphabetical, by title. I will try to find some I think you could find useful. One tedious thing; the pages are only available one (1) page at a time. A 200 page publication takes a while to download. The articles are very well-written. I still prefer (vintagesewing.info/index.html) the downloads are much faster, even if there are fewer of them. The nest year should see some downloads on pattern drafting, garment construction. These might be of much use to you. I wonder if you have been able to download from a company called "wildginger.com)? I am not clear on downloads of programs internationally. About Leko; I had a lot of printing problems at first. The patterns are very basic, the lines are quite light, and I don't read Russian. But if you figure that there are only so many ways you can sew a garment and have it fit the human body, all patterns can be make up. They just take a little longer! I will send you any website that has truly free patterns, they will be for clothing only unless you tell me otherwise. I'll do the download first, then if all goes well, give you the web address. Is that OK with you? Until I hear from you, hold on to your dreams. God keep you safe, Emily/Nehmah Here goes, I do hope this posts to your wall.
Betty, I still have a problem. Every time I try to send a private message, I get the boot off the internet. I will figure a way to get a message to you. In the meantime, I would like to know if you are looking for any special type of pattern or instruction book. I don't leave the house too often so I spend a LOT of time on the net. If I can help you this way, post a list on my wall, if you are easy about that. Take care of your self. Nehmah aka Emily (just not on Forum posts, ther I am Nehmah. OK?)
Betty, Would you leave a message on my wall if you wouldn't mind? I need to have an idea about what you are looking for, example: pattern sources, free, or very low-cost; resource libraries you can download lessons or manuals about textiles and garment construction; websites with information about old and newer clothing, and how to make them. If there is a language you prefer, other than your native tongue, and English, I can try to find something There is so much information on the net and I have so much time I can do a great deal of VR digging. I am uncomfortable about posting things of a personal nature, like one's ability to use another language. Most of what I have found is in English but here is one in both German & English: (www.marquise.de) This is a treasurehouse of information on clothing from long-ago to 1930's. While you may not have any interest in the subject of who wore what and when it was worn, you can learn a great deal about how some of thos lovely silk and wollen outfits show in paintings were constructed. I'll wait until I hear from you again to leave more sites. Enjoy the weekend. You CAN do this, and I will try to help you where I can. Best wishes, Nehmah
Betty, I tried to post a private message, but the site won't co-operate. If you find nothing in you home site, Ill try here, Sorry, Nehmah
hey there.. hope u r doing gud.. actually wat i meant was.. its not dat if u hv nt been to a university or college or dint had any study done in this feild u cant succeed..
but if u get some certificate or diploma its always gud..
what happens when u study is u gain lots of other advantages as in meeting ppl... know wat others r doing.. and obviously u r taught there professionally..
what me and my class mates did.. is right after we had initaiall knowledge about fashion design we studied on our own.. went to lib got books.. searched net.. and started experimenting.. and we leanred more by experiments we did..
cause in ur school u ll be following same pattern.. most u learn in such feilds is byt working on ur own.. trying new things.. but one must stay update with new happenings..
get soem books for ur self..if u know basics than u polish ur talent..
u know here in pakistan.. some of our tailors who actually dont earn gud enough as they shd.. know so much more than fashion designers.. cause they hv been working for years..
its not science that u hv to hv a degree i it..
all designers in the past htat we learn about in history of fashion.. they never went to a college .. cause ther wasnt any!
