I sew because I am small, and it's difficult to find "classy" clothes that I like. Usually I'm stuck in the Jr. department. My job is in government http://www.tcrpc.org/departments/studio.html so I have to look professional. I like sophisticated pieces with a modern funk. I don't tell anyone at my job that I make my clothes, and I receive a lot of compliments. Stacy and Clinton on TLC's What Not to Wear has changed my fashion outlook. I would recommend watching the show and getting their book. I'm going back to school for a Master's in Architecture. It's an undertaking since my undergrad is in English Literature! I'm eating humble-pie sitting in classes with the kids of the people I went to high school with and being taught by the arrogant consultant we fired from a job. My life is trying to get my daughter to school on time, me to work, doing my homework, and doing the mom/wife thing. Weekends are my indulgence with my sewing machine and playing classical music.

WYN's WALL (6)
Wyn, beautiful pics! I am also 5' tall, and my goal lately to learn to fit patterns, even if it takes time away from actually making as many clothes as I want. The selections in the stores are awful for short women, much less short women whose proportions don't fit the "standard". --Becky
Hi Wyn, i saw the pic you posted of your daughter's room with the keyboard and floorboards.. had a good laugh! Very similar. My husband's a musician hence the guitars in the corner. I love your stuff, you're an inspiration :)
hi wyn, thanks for your message :) sigh... i'm working round the clock these days, and haven't had any time to sew in weeks. but the next piece i have planned is one i've been dreaming about for months so i hope i don't disappoint you! you're so prolific, i can't believe it. and everything looks so profession too! cool about your brother-in-law. he must be really talented! i lived in bonn for a while and liked it a lot, and koeln is fantastic. i actually REALLY love the mild, constantly drizzly weather here, strange as that is. (they say the only difference between summer and winter in aachen is the temperature of the rain!) but i'm moving back to chicago soon... and building up an arsenal of coats in preparation. i'm dreading the chapped lips and brittle fingernails!
I also wish you good luck with your studies, it can't be easy. My husband is quite bored with his job but getting back to school sounded like too much to him.
Nice update of your profile!
Hi Wyn- I'm also 5'0" and have trouble finding things that fit. Small girl sewing power! Your creations are inspiring me to apply my skills to building a professional and stylish working wardrobe (though it sounds like it's not as requisite for my job as it is for yours). Congratulations on being in remission- it's really wonderful to hear that.
