I like practical crafts - always have. I love having things that I have made for myself. Most of the time I like to use "recycled" fabric (otherwise know as old clothes and fabric from thrift stores) because if my projects don't turn out I don't stress it as much. But recently I've started buying fabric. My great grand father was a tailor; he made suits for my father and his brothers and ran his own tailor shop. I'm really sad that the local tailor has faded from most American cities. I think it is a pipe dream to think that it could come back, what with cheep clothes from China, Vietnam and other industrializing countries, but I love the idea of making clothes for myself and those closest to me.
