I've been sewing since my first Barbie! When I finally realized I didn't have to draw the patterns out, that I could buy them, I began a life-long passion. I got side-tracked in college, but came back to it in my mid-twenties when I apprenticed under a wonderfully talented and skilled lady. After almost 10 years with her, I started my own business and for 30 years have been designing and creating dream dresses for debutantes, brides, and after-five formals. I started sewing for myself, and have returned to that as this fall I start teaching at the local Bernina store. Subscribing to Burda Magazine for almost 10 years, I've used Burda patterns almost exclusively, as I find they have the best line and I can make them up without having to worry if the fit or line of the pattern is proportionally correct. I love the edgy yet non-crazy look of the styles, and can't wait to see what new patterns Burda has out every month. What a fun and creative site this is - the creators need to recognized and appreciated as this is almost a lost art. Hopefully it's coming back!
