Dorothy balerina slippers (2398 Views)

Here are instructions on how to make Dorothy ballerina slippers. These slippers are variation of Alice slippers. I modified the pattern covering the heel part. So you can download the new pattern and make your own ballerina slippers.

    Step 1 of 11

    You will need: 2 (matching/different colours) stronger cotton fabrics in size 60cm x 40cm, a pair of insoles in your size (if you don’t get insoles cut also sole part from the pattern sheet), thick felt or any other strong or suitable material for soles) in size 20cm x 30cm, rubber foam (or any other non-slippery material). You will also need fabric glue.

    Actually, I didn't finish them because they were sort of baggy and I didn't like them..

    Well… If you find the slippers too baggy, you may try to make the upper part of fabric copy your foot so that the shoe fits exatctly. Try to cut the pieces of the slippers without allowances, if you need smaller size. Basicly, try it on couple of times and make changes according to your foot, before you make the final stitching.

    I wonder if sewing in a bit of 1/4 inch elastic to the opening of the shoe would help with any bagginess. You could top stitch a casing and insert elastic or just stitch the elastic right into the seam on step four.
