  Step 1 of 10

  Select some rings (or links) for your belt design. I couldn't find anything suitable in my local fabric store, so looked through an assortment in my "stash" that I had previously ordered off of eBay.

  Step 2 of 10

  Thread the links through the organza ribbon. Occassionally, drape your ribbon on the front of the skirt and make adjustments according to your taste.

  Step 3 of 10

  Cut the grosgrain remnant into two 2" pieces. These will be attached to the ends of the ribbon belt.

• 

  Step 4 of 10

  Iron a small remnant of iron-on interfacing onto the back of each grosgrain piece as shown.

  Step 5 of 10

  Fold one grosgrain ribbon over a ribbon end. Fold under edges and stitch close to the edges, as shown in the photo.

  Repeat on the other organza ribbon end.

  Step 6 of 10

  If you want to attach the belt to the skirt with a button fastening, stitch an approximate 5/8" buttonhole on each grosgrain ribbon end, as shown.

  Step 7 of 10

  If you prefer an alternative to a button fastening, you may use velcro or snaps instead. Sew the bottom snaps or velcro pieces to the front of each grosgrain ribbon end.

  Step 8 of 10

  Insert the ends of the belt through the openings in the side seams, then...

  Step 9 of 10

  Continue threading the belt through the buttonhole on the grosgrain ribbon, as shown.

  Step 10 of 10

  Arrange the belt on the outside of the skirt with drape according to your taste. Sew the small button, upper snap, or upper velcro fastener to the inner grosgrain waistband. Now your project is complete!
