Easy sleeve slit on JJ (2450 Views)

I thought the instructions for using a binding on the sleeve slit on JJ were far too fiddly, so I used a technique I learned from a vintage 1940s dress pattern, where this was used to create a simple slit in the back neck (which later had a hook and eye added at the top). It's very versatile for adding a slit anywhere!

Step 1 of 3

Place a small bit of scrap fabric on the right side of your garment where the slit will be.
Step 2 of 3

Sew a small V, and cut the slit up to the very point of the V (seen in the lower bit of the photo).
Step 3 of 3

Turn the scrap fabric to the inside, press, and edgestitch. The finished slit is on the top in the photo, ready for the sleeve band to be attached.
