Make your own ironapplications and -patchs (3476 Views)

This is really easy to make! You can mend holes with our own ironpatch that way, you can also make some applications fitting to your on creations (like I did), or you can make applications for cloths you have, that bore you the way they are. I wish you all a lot of fun with this howto ( its may first one, so I hope you will understand it, just ask me if not.. )

Step 1 of 4

Take the normal fabric and cut out the shape you like. Take the ironpatch fabric and cut out a piece slightly bigger than your shape (as coming up in Step 2)

Take as many pins as you need and pin the fabric on the ironpatch fabric (or tack it on, might depend on your shape), so it won´t slip away.
Step 3 of 4

Now sew the normal fabric onto the ironpatch, by using a thread you like ( a fitting or a contrast colour, be creative!!); make sure the fabric is proper sewed on the ironpatch.

Then cut the ironpatch fabric into the shape of the normal fabric (if you have a very little or complicated shape, you might better use a nail scissors to make sure it will get the shape you want!! We don´t want flowers with half petals for example!)
Step 4 of 4

Now your application or patch is ready to be iron on, by following to instructions of the ironpatch fabric (must be written on the pack), normally if you iron it on an insensitive cotton, you can use the hottest step (cotton) on your iron (don´t use stem) and iron it on for 30 to 60 sec., than wait a few minutes, until you test if it really stiks Go out with your garment and... do whatever.

Materials

-You need blank ironpatch fabric ( ask at the department store where you buy your sew stuff) -fabric rest you like, your favorite fabric, fabric with a nice pattern ( it´s up to you) -an iron (of course)

I use 'kids glue sticks' to hold fabic together. That way I don't have the 'bumps' from the pins. It's worked for me so far!
