4 Easy ruffles (8972 Views)
There are 4 methods shown here. Try them
all and pick the one that you like most.

Step 1 of 9
- Cut bias fabric about 1&1/4" wide, use 2 needles serger, serge one edge and zigzag ohter edge.
- Tie serger threads on one end, on other end pull 2 threads that came from 2 needles. They are on horizonal lines.
On the photo, they are black and purple.
Pull them so that they make ruffle.

3.With Right side facing each others, stitch ruffle on garment, navy thread.

4.Flip ruffle to the left, press to flatten the previous stitch line and top stitch.

Type two ruffle
- Cut bias fabric about 1" wide and zigzag both edges.
- Machine baste 2 lines in the middle, 1/4" apart.
- Pull both bobin threads of baste lines to make ruffle.

- Position ruffle on garment and sew in between 2 basted lines, pull off both basted threads.

Step 6 of 9
Type three ruffle... This will work with mostly solid fabric that both side are alike.
1. Cut bias fabric about 2" wide, zigzag both edges.
2. Machine baste abut 1"(2.50 cm)
from left edge, pull this thread to make ruffle.
3.Position ruffle on garment, sew on
top of ruffle along basted line but a tiny
bit to the left.

- Fold ruffle on the right to other side (fold to the left), press and topstitch.

Step 8 of 9
1 Cut bias fabric 2" wide, fold in half and press, make small pleats while sewing.
(or gathering using two basted threads)
2. Use store bought 1/4" wide bias tape or make your own, open the fold, sew the
pleat trim or ruffle on top fo bias tape (only half way).

3.Position trim or ruffle on garment and fold the bias tape to cover the raw edge,
topstitch.
