Here is a quick technique to add some drapery wherever you want on a piece of fabric.

Here is a quick technique to add some drapery wherever you want on a piece of fabric.

You have to sew a small band with a zigzag that has the width of the band plus a little bit extra. So you get a kind of channel/tunnel in which the band slides.

Then you can pull the band and get the drapery to the desired length and shape.

In my project (Angel dress for my daughter) I secured the drapery with some bows. You may secure it with some small stitches too.

I hope you can understand what I mean, my english is so limited... The pictures will explain it all :-)

Thanks for the tip! I did some drapery on the orange dress, by doing gathers, but it took forever, this sounds so much easier and I think the ribbon band adds strenght to the gather.
