  Step 1 of 13

  Create your own puff sleeve pattern with this simple step to step guide. This particular pattern is for gathers on top/cap... same procedure can be used to get gathers at hem/band or both... amount of gathers can be controled very easily with this simple techique.

  Step 2 of 13

  Begin with.. tracing basic half sleeve block on to a sheet.. mark front,back , grain line and the bicep line..

• 

  Step 3 of 13

  measure the bicep line and divide it equally into 6 pannels.

• 

  Step 4 of 13

  now carefully cut each pannel and keep it aside..

• 

  Step 5 of 13

  it wil look something like this..

  next.. take another sheet and in the center draw two perpendicular lines.. mark them as grain line and bicep line as shown:)

  now carefully paste pannel 3 such that bicep lines on the pannel and the sheet matches at the grain line..

  let the upper part be lil away from the g line.. but the bottom part from bicep line till the hem of the pannel must meet the g line

  inthe same way paste pannel 4.. notice the hem

  your hem and cap must look like this.. u can make more larger gathers by increasing the distance between each pannel at the cap ( upper curve of the sleeve)

  when you r done pasting all pannels .. your pattern wil look like this..

  now the tricky part:D

  • at the g line.. go 2 cm up.. and square a line 2 cm ( 1 cm on each side)

  • then.. mark point 1 cm outwards btw pannels 2-3 and 4-5

  • and .5 cm outwards btw pannels 1-2 and 5-6 its very easy dont get confused:D

  • and then place french curve as shown.. and draw a curve merging all the points..

  now flip the french curve as shown.. and mark the shorter curve of the sleeve

  do the same with the other side:D marked is the new sleeve made out of basic half sleeve..

  and here u hv it:D your own puff sleeve pattern using simple cut and paste method:D
