  Step 1 of 5

  Measure your dog. A: From mid-neck to mid back. B: Around neck. C: Widest part of chest.

  Add some ease to measurements B and C. Perhaps 1" (2.5cm) or more for bigger dogs, less for smaller dogs.

  Step 2 of 5

  With measurement A, draw the centerline/fold of the pattern. Take measurement B + ease and divide it in half, use this number to make a perpendicular line at the top of centerline. (We are making this pattern on the fold, so we only need half of the total length.) Repeat with measurement C, and use this measurement at the bottom of the fold line. Extend perpendicular lines from B and C for the belly seam.

  Step 3 of 5

  Get an idea of how much room your dog needs for his legs, and how far back from the neck his shoulder is. Use this to develop the armhole.
  

• Step 4 of 5

  Depending what you are using as fasteners, add button/Velcro/snap extensions. If you are using lining, add seam allowances. If you are using felt or something similar, you don’t need to do this. Now cut and sew your doggy some cool new threads.
