This How To illustrates how to make a pattern for inseam pockets, that you can add to almost any garments!! These pockets are stylish, barely visibly, and extremely handy! Start with your pattern. I am illustrating this with a t-shirt pattern which I changed into a dress (which you will all see soon!). Mark a notch where you want the top of your pocket to be. Here I have added a low pocket, which is about 6" (15 cm) from the waist. A standard pocket is a bit higher- about 3 to 4" (8 to 10 cm) below the waist. Make the same marking on both the front and back of the pieces. When you cut out these pieces, be sure to mark these points with a notch.

Materials

Whatever pattern you want to add in-seam pockets to, sheet of printer paper, pen/pencil, ruler, scissors

When I do set in pockets I add the 5/8 in but stitch at 3/8 because when you stitch the seam at 5/8 the ¼ variance folds in and give smother more concealed look to the pocket. Am I jumping the gun, on the follow up how to?
