Step 1 of 12
Print out your pattern on recycled paper and cut out.
As you can see i have altered my pattern by adding to the sides increasing the width from the sleeves to the hem. I will not be using the side panels in this dress. I also left in the alteration i made for my denim Celestina (see the how-to for more details).

Step 2 of 12
The back pattern piece. I altered this piece to omit the back waistbands and widened from the sleeve to the hem. I cut this piece on the fold so there was no need for a zip.
-
Step 3 of 12
The sleeve pattern piece. I shortened the sleeves.
-
Step 4 of 12
Cut out one front piece and one back piece from your lining material. Overlock all edges.
-
Step 5 of 12
Cut out one front piece, one back piece, two sleeves and two ties (which i have lengthened considerably) from your main fabric. Overlock all edges.
-
Step 6 of 12
Pin the lining pieces right sides together at the shoulder seams. Sew, open seams and press.
Do the same with your main fabric pieces.
-
Step 7 of 12
Pin the lining side seams together, sew open out and press.
-
Step 8 of 12
Fold and pin your ties right sides facing. Sew around leaving the end open. Clip corners, turn out and press.
-
Step 9 of 12
Pin the ties to the right side of the fabric on the back of the dress, just below the armholes. Baste in place.
Sew side seams together making sure to keep your ties out of the way. Open seams and press.
-
Step 10 of 12
Pin the main dress to the lining at the neck, right sides facing. Sew around, clip curves and turn.
-
Step 11 of 12
Press the neckline and top stitch.
Sew in the sleeves as i have done in the denim Celestina except do not add the cuffs, just turn and stitch.
Hem the dress and hem the lining slightly higher so it does not show. Or you could hem the top dress higher to have the lining showing, it your choice.

this looks great. i love the eyelet lining. i'd really like to see a bit bigger picture of the finished dress--perhaps showing the neckline and hem? looks lovely though.
This really is adorable. What a lovely maternity dress. I would also like to see the whole thing. So when I get pregnant again I can make it too.
BTY what kind of material did you use? a stretchy one or something firmer like cotton?
Unfortunately i'm having troubles uploading full size images. Once i have it worked out i'll put them up. The fabric has no stretch in it, it's a chiffon type fabric.
