Lace hem with blindstitch foot (2164 Views)

You can use the lace or blindstitch attachment foot with a flatlock stitch on the server to overcast the raw edge of the fabric and attach the lace in one step. If you don't have a serger (overlock machine), but you have a blindstitch on your sewing machine it can probably be done in a similar way.

Place the lace rights sides facing over the fabric, so that the edge of the fabric is cut of and align the lace straight edge with the guide of the foot attachment. The blade cuts off the edge of the fabric, the raw edge is overcast and the needle should pierce through the lace very close to its edge. All blindstitch foot attachments should have a screw to allow you to adjust the guide so that the needles pierces close to the edge of the lace. Play with it and hand wheel to see where the needle will be. On a regular sewing machine you can cut off the excess edge after the seam is done.
