  Step 1 of 9

  To hem something using facing you will need to cut your own bias. Measure and mark bias at 2 ½”.

  Step 2 of 9

  Cut bias, making it longer if you need to; for help see the How To Making Long Bias Straps , then straighten the ends.

  Step 3 of 9

  Match up and pin bias to the hem.

• 

  Step 4 of 9

  Sew with a ¼” seam allowance.

• 

  Step 5 of 9

  Underside of garment after sewing will look like this.

  Step 6 of 9

  Press bias open.

• 

  Step 7 of 9

  Then press bias to the underside at the hemline seam.

•

  Blind stitch the bias to the garment, see the How To Hand Sewn Blind Stitch for help. You can also finish the edge of the bias by hemming or serging.
