  Step 1 of 14

  Print and cut out the paper pattern from recycled paper (of course!). Pin to your chosen fabric and cut out. I left out the sleeve pattern piece as i'll be changing to a spaghetti strap.

  Step 2 of 14

  Overlock all edges and make appropriate pattern marks onto fabric using tailors chalk or a contrasting thread.

  Step 3 of 14

  Attach bust pieces to the doily by turning edges and top stitching making sure the doily is straight.

  Step 4 of 14

  Using the blade on your overlocker, trim the doily as shown. You could also use bias binding to cover the raw edge of the doily. Sew a gathering stitch across the bottom of each bust piece between the dots and pull slightly to gather.

  Step 5 of 14

  Attach the front piece to the back pice at the side seams. Open out seams and press.

  Step 6 of 14

  Sew the lower front and back pieces together at the side seams. Open out seams and press.

  Step 7 of 14

  Pin the top part to the bottom part of the top, right sides together, gathering the bust evenly. Sew in place.

  Step 8 of 14

  Press the seam allowance downwards and sew around the top again close to the seam edge to make a casing for the elastic cord.

  Step 9 of 14

  Cross over the ends of the cord and sew together.

  Step 10 of 14

  Cut out one long strip of fabric, mine is 6cm wide. I followed this tutorial for making my spaghetti straps.
  Fold over armhole seams and sew in place.

  Step 11 of 14

  Cut your one long strap into two equal lengths. Pin and sew each to the back of the top. Try on the top and pin the straps in place at the front, it would be helpful to have someone do this for you. Sew the straps in place and trim away the excess.

  Fold over, press and sew the hemline.
