  Step 1 of 8

  First choose your desired material that will be your victim :D. I used an old jersey cotton sheet.

  Gather the material into twists or knots and secure with rubber bands (just like you would for tie-dying).

  Step 3 of 8

  Use as many or as few rubber bands as you would like. Play around with different twists and knots it will add a lot of variety to your final outcome.

  Get your work area ready. I suggest either doing this in the sink or in a bowl. If you choose to work in the bowl place a towel down just in case any bleach spills or splashes out.

  Step 5 of 8

  Now it is time for the magic to begin. Pour your bleach into a measuring cup and also fill with an equal amount of water (example: 1/2 cup bleach, 1/2 cup water). Then just pour directly onto the fabric. You can adjust the bleach/water ratio depending on how strong you want it or the material you are using.

  Use enough of your mixture to make sure that all of the material gets wet. As you can see it will start working pretty fast. Let it soak, turning it over if necessary for about a min. If it seems to be beaching quite fast you may want to shorten that time, or the opposite may be true.

  When you are ready dump out the beach mixture and rinse out the material. You can either use the sink and hand wash it, or you can just throw it into the washing machine (have it filled with water and ready to to go, because you fabric will continue to get lighter as time goes on and may get too light if you are not fast).

  And here is an idea of how it may come out. Each time you try it may be completely different. This is also a great way to give old clothing new life (think of those poor tank tops, or tees that are faded or have a stain and are hidden in the back corner of your closet).
