  Step 1 of 8

  When sewing together strips of cloth to make into straps, handles, or cord you might find it difficult to turn them right-side out after sewing because they are not usually very wide but are very long. There are two ways to do this. You can use a loop turner- available at fabric/notion stores. If you do not have one, do the following steps using a safety pin.

  Step 2 of 8

  Sew the strips, right sides facing, at a small seam allowance (or trim after sewing) to reduce fabric inside the piece when it is finished.

  Step 3 of 8

  Pin a safety pin to the edge at the middle of one side of the strip.

• 

  Step 4 of 8

  Turn the top of the safety pin inwards into the tube-like structure created when the two strips were sewn together.

  Step 5 of 8

  Continue to push the safety pin through the tube of fabric, by feeling for it between the fabric and pushing it towards the other end. You will notice fabric bunching up at the end of the strip.

  Step 6 of 8

  As you do so, smooth and ease the fabric that is bunching up behind it.

  Step 7 of 8

  Continue to push the pin through until it comes out the other end, and then pull it out until the entire piece is turned the right way

• 

  Step 8 of 8

  Press it flat and continue on with the rest of your project.
