How To's

A good How To is a step-by-step tutorial that walks people through a tricky technique or a cool project. Getting a How To just right can be tricky: we want your idea to be easy to understand and easy to find, which means getting the text, pictures, and titles just right. Let us help by giving some tips on making your tutorial a success so we can all improve our techniques and learn by sharing.

Create a How To
  1. Prepare all the steps for your How To. Make sure all the text is set, the videos edited and the photos the right size: 500 pixels wide by 404 pixels tall.

2.Sign in to your BurdaStyle account.


  1. To upload a new How To, you may either begin by selecting “upload how to” in the upper right hand corner of the “How To” section of the website OR you may go to the “members menu” (to the right in your profile) and select “edit” next to “How Tos;” then click “upload how to” at the bottom of your list of How Tos.

  1. Once you have clicked the “upload how to” button, enter the required information and images. Hit “next step” until you have entered all the steps. Make sure your steps are in order, because you cannot drag and drop steps. Note: You cannot replace images once they have been uploaded without first deleting the following steps.

  1. Click “save” and you’re done.

  1. Should you need to edit a How To, go to the Members Menu in your profile, find the “How To” link and click “edit.” A list of your How Tos should pop up. Find the one you would like to edit and click the “edit” link to the right of the how to. Change whatever steps by clicking on the text itself and editing. Click save and you’re done.
Request a How To

To request a how to just hit the "Contact” link in the “About Burda Style” section of the footer. Write in a description of the how to you want (the more detailed the better) and we will do it as soon as possible (keep in mind we do get a lot of requests so it might take a little while)
