Just curious..when we construct the lining- shall we make it a slightly bigger than the jacket itself? I thought for the comfort when you move your arms... Or anyone would give me some hint --I appreciate. Thanks
I always made the lining the same size as the jacket, otherwise the lining would crinkle inside. But you can add some fabric at the centerback and make a pleat there, so when you move your arms everything will be ok ;)
You have to cut the lining a bit bigger. I usually add about half a centimeter all around the pattern pieces and make a pleat of between 1 and 1,5 centimeter deep at center back (If there's a center back seam on the outside, you can often cut the lining on the fold, adding 1 cm measured from the widest point, and making the stitch line of the pleat a bit wider)
This is needed because most fabrics have a bit of stretch, simply because of the fibres they're made from. Lining fabrics have no stretch at all.
