It would be great to have a how-to on lining/interfacing coats!

I'm preparing to make my first coat. I bought the fabric. Now Ive been looking all over internet to figure out what kind of lining I should use. Should I use fusible interfacing, and where? Should I interline with flannel, or something else, or skip interlining? It's all quite confusing.

      I am currently HAPPY!!

Try to open google video then type "benedikta lining" on the search engine. Perhaps still there the how to--put the lining for jacket.

      working on Steffi

Hello, as to WHERE to interface, I've remembered this article on Fashion Incubator - scroll down to the bottom of the article, and there it is, as clearly stated as it can be. The article. Fashion Incubator is concerned with business sewing, and right in there it opposes it to home sewing, but I think a coat is something you want to be as good and as long-lasting as possible, so why not adopt practices that would help it, right?

Still waiting for internet to work

During dressmaking training I learned to always interface the complete front and the front facing. In addition we interfaced the top half of the back and the top of the sleeves. This usually works very well for my coats. When you use interfacing you need to add a lining otherwise it won't look good on the inside and this gives additional warmth. I hope this helps. Good luck with your coat!
