Hi guys, I am a very new sewer, but I am very keen and eager to learn. I have only ever made one thing before and that was a basic A line skirt. So I have decided that my next project will be the marie skirt. Bought my fabric, downloaded the pattern, cut out my fabric - however on step one of the pattern i am stuck !!?!?! I just can't figure out how the pleats will go. I am looking at the diagrams and it is showing the pleats to be in the centre of the piece. However when I look at the pattern the pleats do not seem to be central.

Am I being really thick? I have looked to see if there was a how to but there isn't - I feel really stupid to be stuck at the very first step - sob! If this is an easy pattern - what hope do I have - double sob!
