Dyeing fabric

I ve never dyed anything before and my sisters want these little jackets to go with some shirts they got, so im wondering if its better to dye a fabric before or after you make the garment?

      I'd recommend dying before, just so you can get thread that matches the color closely, since you can never tell what the exact color is going to be before dying. I dyed these pants with what I thought was a pale yellow but turned out to be some loud, bright yellow that is painful to look at! Good luck!
