I was thinking that with 100 000 members, there are probably several subcommunities that could form. Is there no possibility to create specialized forums on the basis of such communities. I'm thinking of linguistic groups - I saw a discussion in French indicating a need to group and/or post together, but I'm also thinking of other possible groups. For example for men or for making clothes for the disabled. This is a bit different than the chat sewing circle proposed by emagggie a little earlier on... Again, just a thought.
The whole point about Burdastyle, speaking personally, is that I can feel part of a worldwide community, with a common interest in sewing. I would hate to see it break down into splinter groups.
I'm not thinking forums that are "segregated", only labelled forum areas for different groups... anyone could post and take part. But hey, if it doesn't appeal, np, it was just an idea I had.
I would like the labeled areas. I find the forums quite difficult to navigate personally. I don't know where my expertise could help others and where to find stuff that could help me. It would be nice to have a general chat area like emaggie said and also to have other categories with a better focus like "Pattern Making" or "Altering to Fit" "Projects with Nikkishell" etc. I think it would be nice to navigate easier to what we're looking for generally rather than using the search engine for specifics. I love our international community and would hate to lose that, but it would be great if we could make the forum categories more user friendly.
As a brand new user to Burda, it would be nice to have things broken down into sub-forums a bit more. I think it might actually spark conversation. I know it would make it easier to find things. Right now, because I'm learning about so many things, wandering through a forum full of 'creative solutions to difficult sewing problems' would be really nice because I find that a great opportunity to pick up tricks from the more experienced. Right now, those threads are scattered around all over the place.
I don't mind looking for them, but it would be more fun if it were more organized.

I think that essentially what you're all getting at is that you want more forum categories. I agree, that would be nice.
