I was lucky enough to be in my fabric shop when they were offloading their evening fabric. It had all been $70 - $120 a metre but it was now $10. I did buy a fair bit.
Now my daughter needs a ballgown and I want to make some up. No worries you say?
Well the fabric she had chosen is chiffon with beaded starbursts all over it and I'm not feeling too confident.
How do I handle it?
I think I need to remove all the beads on the seam line and reattach them after. And pressing is going to be interesting.
The pattern is a WOF one and fairly simple and I'm lining it with satin.
So if you have any tips to share I would be really grateful.
when ive worked on costumes i found smashing the beads in the seam allowance better than taking off. it leaves the stitches in tact. However double check on some extra material to see if this still applies for your fabric.
Good luck!
i,m with the opinion of sewbaby26 leave the beads as it is and when you start to sew some of them will be broken from the sewing machine dont worry it wont show if you want to put the back do it it wilol be easier than doing them all
Thanks for that. I'm starting tonight. It's taken me a bit to get my nerve up but I need to get going. Hopefully I'll have something to post on creations when I'm done.
