I love seeing all the great patterns for women but I see almost no patterns for men featured here. Will I be seeing some soon? Thanks.
Peace,
Jorge

I am planning to post a how-to technique for a man’s shirt (plus size) soon, as soon as I get the time to get it organized. Hope that will help!

I for one like the children’s patterns. However I would like to see more mens patterns as well. Perhaps a seasonal mens issue done twice a year. One for Spring/Summer and one for Fall/Winter.

One more vote for mens patterns! A nice pair of work pants would be great!
(But we’re always appreciative of all your hard work anyway!)

I agree very much! I think the magazine gives enough men’s patterns to start out from, but my husband is a plus size as well, so I can’t use those! :( So for now I made him a tie… Ha! I’d love to surprise him with pants or bermudas in European sizes 56-58, or 28(under the belly). Thank U!

I finally got around to finding the time to prepare and post a technique for Drafting a Men’s Shirt Block – only four months after I promised it :( Still, better now then never ! This should help, especially for plus-sized men!

Thank you so very much, Gedwoods! My husband (I know) will thank you as well, even if only through me! :-)

I definitely want more men’s patterns! I’m a guy who sews and so far I’ve made the Jason vest with great success and I’m working on a couple of other projects for myself. I don’t have access to the magazine so I’m just waiting for any patterns to pop up on this site.

I know it’s been a year since the last post, but it is worth breathing new life into this topic! There are more and more men sewing and making clothes these days, and still the pattern companies focus on women. I find that most of the pattern companies have never been very adventurous when it comes to men and menswear. I believe it is time for a change! I’ve customised Burda patterns in the past, and taken patterns off my favourite garments, maybe I should send them to Burda?

Hey 360degrees,
As a member of BurdaStyle, you can share your mens sewing patterns as a free download to other members. We would love to see your patterns and the projects other members create using them! Some of our most popular pattern downloads are member created!

…………that still does not give any answer to the point, why burdastyle itself is not making and mens pattern. i have the burdastyle germany ever month in my mailbox, but guess what: NO MENS PATTERN for ages!!! and if you ever get one (1 !!!!!!!!!) single pattern in a magazin full of womens pattern, than it is a shirt or a pyjama. i scream it out loud again!!! we are here too and we want men’s pattern please please please!!!!

Germany is quite conservative? From what I’ve figured at least in the men/women-issues. Ie: women sew (in the conservative bosses minds). At least thats’ my theory after speaking about life with German exchange students in th 90’s (educated, huh)..
If you all write to Burdastyle Magazine you might be able to make a change!

More mens, and also some teen patterns would be good. I usually use the smallest size adults patterns and go for it with suitable fabrics, but something specifically designed for young people would be good.

some items I might sew for my man:
tie pillow case (have done that) shorts with lots of pockets a vest with lots of pockets for all his gadgets: phone, gps, maps, etc.
I think it just might be the idea for people to start drafting their own men’s patterns. A good book at the library is Winifred Aldrich Metric Pattern Drafting for Men’s Wear. Burda magazine often has some men’s patterns but why are they not offered up for sale on the website?
I find more difficulty finding fabric suitable for men’s clothing. I want 100% cotton for shirts, drill in mannish colours, knit fabrics that are not “cute” etc.
