Hi, have been using this website for quite a while now, but would really like to use it more as a social network too and make some sewing buddies! How do you all get started on that? Just through chatting in the forums? Ha, I realise this sounds a bit desperate!!! ;)
Looking forward to meeting some like-minded souls! x

I’ll be a friend. I haven’t been sewing too much lately. I’ve been rather depressed, just the weather. What have you been working on lately. I decided to try my hand at quilting as there are mostly straight lines only to find out there really is not. I do love all the quilt fabrics though. Janel

How to get to know people here: leave comments, take part in the forums, post projects… be active and social :-)! Me, I do it too much, should really do some sewing, haven’t done so for a long while… I do so want to finish and post something soon! Good luck both of you (laughed a bit at the description of quilting, funny description but I’m sure it’s going to turn out great!).

Hi Clarey, I dont have any friend interested in sewing so I can t share my passion or discuss, that s why I like this site and to post comments and to get involved in discussions (little)and to meet persons who share the same hobby. Sometimes, though, I feel a bit uncomfortable because of my English:)) I m learning English terms for sewing i hope soon I ll understand all …Some persons here are so creative and inspiring and I added them as friends (hope they ll add me too?) You can also visit my studio or my new blog and add me as a friend if you like:)

Hi everyone!! Thanks for your replies – I am loving this website now that I have got the hang of it, like uploading finished projects etc.
Janel – I have got my sewing mojo at the moment so have been doing something most evenings. I live on my own, so it helps to sew otherwise I find myself sitting in front of the tv moping. At the moment, I am just finishing the Jakob shirt for my boyfriend for his birthday. After that, I have the Paola dress to finish and I also want to start self-teaching myself pattern drafting. Eeek!
IchiGoGirl, I love your profile pic! Get sewing and post something :)
MayaDoughterofSun – thanks, same to you! I have added you as my friend. I only have one friend who loves sewing as much as me but I only see her once a week at sewing class, so this site is perfect. Also, so brilliant for advice!
What does everyone do, job wise? Anyone lucky enough to be sewing? :) xx

Hello Clarey! You also might want to join a BSC in your area by going to http://burdastyleclubs.ning.com/ . You will find many sewing friends here on BS. Welcome !

Hello Clarey,
I love your question about jobs …. There are a number of sewing or fashion professionals in and around the site, but I think most of us have “day jobs”. I am a research professor at a university – not far from retirement age, and I’m so looking forward to “stepping down” and doing some more serious sewing and fashion design than I have time for now! (Although most people who are retired still say they are very busy…. )

As long as you don’t step down from this network, Gedwoods. I love your contributions.

I understand, Clarey. Sewing can get kind of lonely cos you’re up late at night eating out of the refrigerator and making a big mess and talking to your cat. Oh wait, that’s just me. I once had a roommate who sewed and it was really fun to have someone there to bounce ideas off and share techniques. And make brownies.
But wait — you guys are friending each other? On this site? I’m so out of it, I didn’t know that was possible. I will happily friend any of you as long as you are not the poster of Coogi sweater ads.

How do I find out who has friended me? I know several folk here have, and I’d like to return the complement.
