Here’s a challenge for adventurous BurdaStyle members! Within an ongoing research project, we have come up with a means to incorporate “animated” fabric textures within garments and are currently developing the technology to showcase this. Without going into all the details about the technology involved (which we want to develop without public disclosure until we have something tangible to show!), I thought it might be fun for BurdaStyle members on the adventurous side to suggest (or even propose!) some dynamic texture prints that we could use include within our demos. We are currently developing demos that will work for a tee-shirt style garment, front only – this is simply to develop the approach on an easier problem to begin with than the whole body. We are also incorporating interactive information about body position (i.e. we can change the texture as a function of bending, leaning, sitting, etc., and even have the garment respond to contact with a finger, for example). Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome, or if you would like to submit a set of animations, we may be able include them within our demo (giving credit where credit is due, of course)!

Wow that sounds incredible, kind of holographic, the posters that were popular in the early 90’s with 3D images hidden in them came to mind.
